We make pancakes, sausage, eggs, and hash browns almost every Saturday and Sunday for breakfast (or brunch). The other griddle that we had was beginning to look a little rough. You know the kind -- the ones with nonstick coating that work really good until they stop working. I knew that it was time to get a new griddle and I wanted to get a good one. I haven't had much experience cooking on cast iron, but I read a lot about it and figured that I would give it a try. I didn't do anything extra to the griddle in regards to seasoning it before first use. I was amazed that the pancakes did not stick. We have used this several times since and I am happy to report that it works great and cleans up nicely. We are expecting many years of use out of the griddle.

Great product

We had one of these for years & lost it in a fire. This is just as good of quality as our old one! We love it for camping but use it on the stove. Cooks great bacon! They last for years.

Camp griddle

I bought this griddle to take camping with me since cooking is a big part of camping for me. I have found the Lodge griddle to be invaluable on these trips. I cook bacon and sausage on one side and turn it over and wipe it off and cook pancake and eggs on the other side. It works great.

I love this griddle.

I have had this griddle for years and use it to broil salmon filets. I like it so much that I have recently bought another one for my future son-in-law who is a deer hunter. I got it for his birthday and I know that it will last his lifetime if he takes care of it. It is 17 inches long and perfect for those large salmon filets or multiple steaks. I use the side that has the raised ribs to elevate the meat or fish off of the surface. The other side is smooth and I have used it to griddle pancakes and fry eggs on the stove top. It would be great to use over a campfire. It's probably an inch thick cast iron so it packs nicely. The 17X9 inch surface is all usable space because the handles are exterior to the actual cooking surface. For the price and a lifetime of use it cannot be beat.

Built for a Lifetime

I saw a cast iron griddle used on Food Network and thought I would enjoy using it. So of course I ordered it from Walmart. The first thing I cooked was onion and bell peppers and then grilled chicken for fajitas. It turned out better than I expected. My husband loved them too.
I used it in my cooking class that I have with the little girls at church. We did pancakes. It was easy for them and they loved the pancakes. I would diffently recommend this product.

better than expected

I watch the cable Food Shows often and kept seeing my favorite cooks using this indoor grill (which looked cast iron?), so I paid closer attention, did a little research online and found not only the "grill pan," but saw this dual griddle also. Had to get both. The griddle is off the grid (;) in that it fits just right on my 2 gas burners on stove-top, however---the one tip I'll share is this: After you turn your heat up to get the griddle very hot and place your steaks, etc. on and get that sear...you better turn the fire down just a little because the "spatter" is rather messy. For all the pluses, methinks I'll just figure out what to do with the messy and in fact, I've already put my cast iron lid from another lodge pan ontop and that has helped alot. Get one! or two!

Keeps getting better and better

While not shown in the picture the flat side of the griddle has a recess to catch grease which makes my pancakes a little smaller than I was hoping. Otherwise this griddle is perfect. It heats evenly and cleans up extremely easy thanks to the factory seasoning.

Almost perfect

After researching online for a good stovetop grill/griddle this particular brand came up as the most favored one in all foodie sites. Even though Walmart has a good in-store selection of Lodge products this particular one needed to be Site-To-Store'd for my location. It arrived earlier than expected and in perfect condition. It is pre-seasoned but this doesn't mean it doesn't require initial treatment. Make sure to follow the instructions to oil it and wash it properly (buy the stiff brush!). Other than that, food has come out great and it is easy enough to clean if you follow the instructions. Definitely satisfied.

Meets Expectations

I'm a beginner when it comes to cast iron cooking. However, this is a solid durable piece of cookware. I was impressed with the durability. I've only used it once to date. The cleanup of this product is difficult, especially since they recommend ONLY using hot water (no soap). But I got great grill marks off of it! There isn't much depth for grease run off, so I wouldn't recommend cooking bacon on it.
