I decided to buy a cast iron skillet after a relative had a disaster with a teflon pan burning with toxic smoke.  The order came promptly.  The skillet was preseasoned.  Meat cooked easily.  The first steak was delicious. Eggs stuck on, but were not difficult to clean off. Everything else cooks well.   It has been easy to clean without soap.  I follow the guidelines to keep it clean and lightly oiled.  I also seasoned it in the oven as directed on the excellent and helpful Lodge website.  The ability to take the pan directly from the stovetop to the oven for browning is great.  Happy to recommend it.

Cast iron is great

The Lodge Chef's Collection 12 Skillet is a step up from regular skillets.  It is lighter, has an extra handle and comes pre-seasoned.  It is  joy to use.
