If this happens, you can revive your seasoning. Be sure to lift your pan when moving it on a glass top stove. Use any utensils you like, even metal. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Steel Pan Review Fairly heavy thick steel for heavy duty cooking anywhere, cook top, to open camp fire. The only draw back I would say is there pre-seasoning, I believe it is sprayed on creating a texture inside the pan which I do not care for, So i re-seasoned the pan. Plus i now know what the seasoning is on the Pan now. Also this is a heavy gauge steel pan so it has a lot of weight to it. But compared to the others on the market it is a steal for the price. pun intended...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My New Go-To Skillet As a cast iron user for several years now I recently became interested in trying out a carbon steel pan and I'm glad I did, at about half the weight and most all the benefits of cast iron this has become one of my most used pans. Personally, I always strip Lodge's (weak) soybean pre-seasoning with oven cleaner and then pre-season with flax seed oil using the oven method 3 to 4 times. You really get it non-stick after cooking some fatty foods such as skin-on chicken thighs, pork chops etc. a few times then it's ready for eggs. The handle is long enough to keep it cool to the touch for a while but it's rather uncomfortable, that and the Lodge pre-seasoning are the reasons I give it 4 not 5 stars. I'll pick up a handle holder soon. Btw, I bought a machined smooth Vollrath 58920 11" carbon steel pan at the same time and I am still struggling to get it non-stick. It may be the user's fault and not the pan but I have tried the Vollrath (potato skin) pre-seasoning instructions, oven and stove top methods with no success. I'm stubborn, I WILL get that pan non-stick but will stay with Lodge in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from my new searing pan Great pan to sear meat in. Need time to season by cooking more animal based fats before cooking an egg without sticking. Much lighter than cast iron and great heat distribution. Don't wash with soap. Just rinse with water or rub with napkin of excess oil before store away. Never store wet otherwise it will rust.
