Marcy Mid size Surge Bench MD867 is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bench for the job I purchased this bench through overstock for $208 and it's worked great for me. It seems pretty stable with me at 5'7 180 lbs with no noticeable issues while lifting whether it's using the bench, preacher curl or squat rack. The addition of the "spotter" is helpful since I lift alone, I have had to use it a few times and it's gotten me out of a jam or two...quite nice to have. Overall the bench is a great product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Versatile bench. Some minor issues. The bench has a bunch of nice features, but for me at 6' tall there are some small ergonomics issues. (Ex: When using decline, it's hard to reach the bar when resting on the top support and so it's hard to get it over the support "guards". And the lower support position is too low and far back to safely lift a bar off of in decline). At first, I thought the bench was too low for my long legs to do extensions, but I realized you can lift the seat by tilting it, and it becomes fine. The construction of the bench overall is somewhat stable, although the bench pad itself is a bit wobbly (not noticeable while lifting though). The tube 'build' of the thing is somewhat cheap especially near the leg extension portion. I've managed to bend it in one spot, through normal use, by doing a leg extension up to the "stop". That "stop" is bent. This "stop" is also where you attach the preacher curl pad, so now it's hard to get the preacher curl pad attached (Because of the localized bend). The bench pad itself came shipped a little torn although it's on the back side, and a little electrical tape prevents the tear from getting bigger so it'll be ok I think.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Bench, Lousy Manufacturer Experience My rating reflects the quality of the bench, not my experience with the manufacturer. I like the overall quality and that the bench itself is pretty solid. It isn't wobbly and feels pretty sound while you're using it. For the functionality that you get, it's a very good buy. I would have rated it higher if the paint didn' flake off a little and one of the parts didn't fit well, but ultimately we made it work. You will want at least a 72" bar. Now for the manufacturer. I bought this for Christmas for my teenage sons and hoped to be able to use it right away. Unfortunately, I had two left uprights in my box and tried to get the manufacturer to send a right upright to me. It was quite an ordeal. After calling repeatedly, not receiving promised call backs, waiting a couple of weeks for delivery, and then being told I would have to wait another three weeks for a shipment from China, I finally just bought another bench for parts. Lo and behold, my part showed up unexpectedly in the mail the next day, but it was another left upright! So, I was glad I bought the extra bench. Plus, as I was putting it together, I found that one of the welds on one of the parts was preventing completion of the bench. So, I swapped that part out of the extra bench too. I returned the extra bench with all the parts (some of them defective) to Wal Mart with no problem. It's a shame that I had to do it this way, but my patience with the manufacturer had run out. So, while I recommend the bench, if you have problem with parts and you want to use your bench any time soon, skip dealing with the manufacturer and just order another bench. Between the two of them, you'll hopefully have all the parts you need.
