[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a very sturdy commode and the drop arms were needed because I am non-weight bearing on both feet and use a slide board to move from my wheel chair to the commode.  The extra room on the seat allows for this to be possible.  In addition, I was able to adjust the height of the commode to match the height of my wheelchair seat so that the slide board isn't going uphill or downhill, which could result in movement of the slide board and potential injury.  Very pleased with this purchase.
