I am a Vietnam veteran and was issued a M-16 rifle while serving as a forward air observer. This rifle looks like and feel like the real thing. It was a piece of cake to zero it in at 20 yards. I plan to use this gun for pest control and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a look alike M-16 and Walmart prices are at least 40 dollars less than anyone else's price.

p.s. Not a gun for a kid, with a cocking effort of 45 lbs.

Other sites list the MTR77 for $170.00 so when I found it at Walmart for $127.00 I got one, that's $134.00 with tax and free shipping. Other reviews I have read said to clean the barrel, this is a must. When shipped from China they must put what looks like a carbon coating in the barrel. It took several patches with Crosman oil and a couple shots of Beeman Quick Clean pellets to do the job. If the Quick Clean pellets are any indicator of the noise level it's as loud as my 22 LR so it's not a back yard in town shooter. The fit and looks are excellent, you would have to be pretty close to tell it's a pellet gun so don't freak out your neighbors. The mag. has some storage, not much, and the mag release is located and operates like the real thing but that's the only control that does.
I'll update after I have shot the suggested 250 rounds to beak it in. I also have a Crosman Nitro Venom and it took at least that many shot to bring the groups in tolerance. I just about gave up on it.

Great price, looks, and feel

It is a really good air rifle, I did not test acuracy but I love this.
Pro - Power is excellent. Looks and feels real M16. Heavy and metal feeling. Do not need to to multi pumps, just once is good enough.
Con - Carry handle is a prastic, it should be steal. The gun is a single shot gun, so owner should load and shot each time. some air guns support magagine for countinous shot.

Overall I like it very much.

Very good air rifle feels like real

good power I use for target shooting like free standing open sight was able to dial in fine shooting the bottoms out of been cans at around 30 yards yes single shot and a bit of cocking effort but not that bad . like the 1 step rather than the multi pump myself been having a blast with it

Open sights at 20 yards dead on but... my sights r bad.. my back peep sight is all the way to the left and all the way up.. front sight is all the way down so if i go out to 40 yards my pellet is going to drop and i have no more adjustment to get on target... shipping was bad the box was open and in bad shape... but people the gun works good and strong i just got one with bad sights and shipping.. if u get a .177 get this one or the ignite black ops sniper rifle these guns r made way better than the others but mtr77 is nitrol piston and black op is spring.. i will be putting a scope on the mtr77 cause of sights but wish i didnt have to :-( it easy to shoot 50 to 100 yards with scopes but with open sights thats the real deal lol

powerful

A tactical looking air rifle capable of pest control but suited mainly for backyard target shooting up to 20-25 yards away, increased to 30 to 35 yards with proper scope. Gamo redfire pellets were extremely accurate but recommend Crosman magnum premier for best groups. The airgun initially sounds like a muffled .22 but gets more quiet and smoother to shoot after approx. 300 shots. Got a pretty good trigger on this one, which is adjustable.

Great pellet rifle. My favorite so far. Accurate, powerful and sturdy this rifle is a must buy for those who enjoy air gunning. The gun itself is solid however the stock iron sights although usable aren't the greatest so I upgraded to real A2 iron sights and they worked great since the MTR77 is basically a replica of the M16/AR15 military rifle. Has enough rail space for adding optics if one so desires. I shoot Crosman Powershot Gold Flight pellets aswell and I'm totally happy with everything.

This pellet rifle is most definitely for the intermediate adult shooter. Out of the box it displays tremendous looks and shoots with considerable power. If you're going to use it as a back yard plinker, be sure you have some sort of natural or makeshift backstop(there's a cemetery beyond the fence of my backyard, so nothing to worry about unless there's a service). The rifle had no problem going through mild steel paint thinner cans; therefore, if your considering using it for vermin or avian pests you'll find it to be, perhaps, a bit of an over achiever.

Overall, I consider the MRR77 NP to be very good value for the money and am very happy with my purchase, not to mention the shipping time from Wal-Mart.

This One's For Big Boys (and Girls)

Looks and feels like an M16. I got it as an inexpensive way to practice shooting as I typically only get to the range once or twice/year. Very cheap way to practice. When sighting in the front site don't follow the instructions. It tells you to turn the wrong way. I've also not been able to shoot a very good shot group (nor could anyone in my family and we all grew up shooting). I expected to be able to consistanly hit a half dollar sized area at 10 meters. This gun isn't doing it, but it's still great for training.

The front sight can't be moved low enough to get you in the x even with the rear sight fully adjusted . I had to modify the front sight myself which would not have been easy for most people.. Good rugged build and fairly accurate. Trigger is pretty heavy even when adjusted.
