Can be generous and long-lasting, but may be bulky and require significant initial filling.

Setup and connection to wifi is straightforward.

Can be clear and easy to follow, but may also be confusing or incomplete in some cases.

Easy to set-up. So far, I like everything about our new printer. I especially like the ink tank concept. This will save money over the cartridges.
Another advantage to this printer is the large capacity paper tray. And I haven't had any problems with the feed like I did with our previous printer. I haven't tried the top copier feed yet, but I think I'll love it.

The Eco Tank system makes the cost of ink very reasonable.  I have read numerous on line articles about how to keep the heads clean and printing without wasting enormous amounts of ink using the head cleaning utility built into in the machine. and filling up the waste ink receptacle.  Because the ink is so much cheaper than the cartridges, it is not unreasonable to run color prints  or purge sheets at regular intervals just to keep the print heads clean.

My old Epson cartridge printer used expensive cartridges and eventually failed due to the waste ink receptacle being full and causing the printer to fail.  The promised mail order service to replace the ink receptacle does not exist and the links to service centers revealed none within any reasonable distance to my home.

This printer prints beautifully, and much faster than my old one, and I am hoping that I can keep it running reliably for many years.

Prints beautifully and low ink cost.

I really like this printer! It was easy to set up and processes print jobs very quickly. I appreciate the EcoTank system - no dinky ink cartridges that seem to go dry in days - and I like being able to visually monitor ink levels. I can see why Consumer Reports gave this printer a high rating!

Terrific printer!

The setup instructions and software are outstanding.  I like the paper tray which is solid compared to my old printer.  Loading the ink was very easy and bottles/nozels prevent spilling.  It came with enough ink to fill the wells to the brim (not little sample bottles that would make you buy more).  Not the fastest printer on the block, but for small quantity home use it is an excellent choise.

Darn good little printer!

I tried all of the features and they work great.  Automatic document feeder, double-sided, scan, copy, print, etc.  The default was "fast" printing and I found that too light for me so I changed it to "normal".  My only complaint so far is that the machine is not quiet.

Happy so far

Nice printer. I really like the Precision Core print head. Worth the extra money.

On standard setting, some text was a bit misformed (yes, I went through all the alignment steps); I moved the setting to standard plus, hope that will make a difference. 

The ink tank arrangement is a good approach. 

Finally - this one is on me, not the machine - I did not realize Epson offered many refurbished printers until I registered this one. Wish I had gone there first.

My first Epson printer

The EcoTank ET-3843  does a good job of printing and scanning but the user interface is not very intuitive.  My last 2 printer/scanners have been HP.   The HP interface is very robust and intuitive.  It seem to take more steps complete an action on the Epson.  For example, it takes 3 steps to turn the Epson scanner off.   I bought Epson because I wanted to move from cartridges to ink tanks.  HP did not have a comparable tank type device.

Don't like the user interface.

Jam's most of the time.  I have wasted expensive sticker paper because it keeps jamming or printing unevenly. it took 11 tries to get 1 to print.  It also jammed regular printer paper.  The positives were it was easy to connect to the wifi and install, print quality is good.

While this  ink tank printer significantly reduced the cost of printing, this printer is as temperamental as they come.  I'm  so relieved when it actually prints something as most times the job gets stuck in the queue.  At first I attributed it to a weak WiFi signal so I  installed a mesh WiFi system where the signal is strong everywhere.  This mesh system corrected the “drop out” problems I was having with other IoT devices but, unfortunately,  the printer problems persist.   The printer recognizes there is an issue and kicks off a troubleshooting program that is pretty much worthless.  I'm sorry I purchased this printer.
