This laptop is has made me love Windows again, the performance is robust with some of the best internals from H performance CPU chewing through tasks adequate memory and lightening fast SSD and thunderbolt 4 ports. The highlight everytime I power it on is the I am blown away by the 2.8k OLED screen and the fingerprint scanner authenticating me right away. The only thing missing is a dedicated GPU for a richer gaming experience but I only try games my daily workflow is more than covered with with everything included best laptop ever for my needs. I use my phone alot less with this computer around (it connects and mirrors all activity on the laptop)

Awesome laptop

I've been building desktops computers for over 2 decades now for myself, family and clients. I've had hand me down laptops but never a new one. I am still learning the qualities of this Vivobook and so far am pleasntly surprised. The majority of the time it will be connected to my LG 65" tv through the HDMI. In two days I have already received a few compliments of how nice my computer looks and performs.

I purchased this computer because I was in awe of the settings for specific eye comfort. I have very sensitive eyes myself and am usually squinting or lowering the brightness, with this computer I don't have to do that.

Eye Care Settings

Other than a Mac, windows machines have notoriously terrible screens.  This one has a great screen for critical photo color work.  The processor even lacking a dedicated video card, holds its own when ram is increased to 40 gig, with my Envy 32gig 12700F w/6gig video card in photoshop, with processing times just marginally slower than the more powerful desktop. Battery usage and power requirements far less than game laptops w/dedicated video cards with little loss of performance with photoshop tasks. Screen calibrates to 100% sRGB, 99% Adobe RGB, and 99% P3.  Can't ask for much better on any laptop.

Asus Vivobook S

I got i think a defect product in which the “I” key on keyboard is not working properly. I need to apply more pressure and do it on a right angle. I leill get it fixed someday whlist still under warranty but i can't because of time issue. Hence, i just deal with it

+6 months in and I have been running into issues. Things like, putting it to sleep and not being able to recover the WiFi. Other times I have gotten a black screen and had to manually restart with the power button.the system began running extremely slowly so  I purchased the operational Norton cleanup software and that helped but did not solve the all the issues.

With effort, it works

the startup was confusing when I got to enter gmail, also downloading the files from my thumbdrive backup into the vivo was not automatically asked for. It starts slower than expected, but no problems actually using it. The screen is gorgeous and has a blue light filter I appreciate

This checked almost all the boxes and gives up very minor things in this price point. I would have given this 4.5-5 stars if not for one significant issue and that's not delivering on the performance promise of this laptop. This is advertised as having a 45w H series processor level performance, but performance is relatively lower than other laptops with 12700H cpu. I don't know if it's the heat management or something else, although I feel the heat is fine on my unit. I suspect it has more to do with the memory timings. Looking at the memory frequency in hwinfo, it seems the system is too aggressively down clocking the ram. The highest frequency I see it go up to is 2666mhz and not the advertised 3200mhz, which the ram module is reported to operate at.  Whatever the culprit, it looks like performance is at least 20% lower than expected. This is unfortunate because the rest of the laptop is really great at this price range, so I hope Asus can address this via software update.

not sure why this laptop has a 3 or 4k display. video playback at those resolutions is a stuttery mess.
