Purchased to use in a small office room with a bathroom.
With the sole expectation that it remove cigarette smoke/odors. 

I ordered the green filter with it. It did very well controlling odors, but only with it running on high. Anything that moves this volume of air will be noisy.
Running it on the second speed level, the noise was hardly noticeable, but it did not control the odors, nearly as well as full speed.

I ordered a second plain jane 300 model. They both were about $40 less then than they are now.

Running both units on the medium speed solved the noise issues, and was able to keep the cigarette odors in check.

One of them is actually sitting on my desk where I work, and can barely hear it running, but is still moving a considerable amount of air. When I turn it on, I can feel air circulation off the celling from the fan, that is how much air it is moving on medium.
I did try the off brand filters, And they didn't perform as well as the more expensive Levoit filters. Will not purchase the off brand again.

The green filters I ordered were considered "toxin" filters. I just ordered the actual "Smoke" filter for both units. Will do a review on them once they arrive and they get some hours on them.

When I leave the office, I turn both down to the lowest setting. A friend who doesn't smoke entered my office with me one morning and she told me she didn't smell any smoke.
At $80 for a pair of Toxin and $85 for a pair of Smoke filters, Yes, they are expensive. But the long life of them makes it tolerable for me.

I keep a small hand held vac in my office and I do pull the filters out about once a week and vacuum the outside of the filters.

Considering I only paid $100 each shipped, they have been a worthwhile purchase.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] ive had this for months now and atill no differwnce,i have allergies i believe is the grass,i do have that special filter and the og one it came with,i feel no difference my allergies are the same, this i dont know if it matters but i had a different one before and the air smelled different in a good way this one is on high and i feel no difference at all or as it change anyway

it does nothing for me, id say dont even try it
