They were less messy than traditional watercolors in my house. I feel I did a better job blending and shading with the pencils than I do with regular watercolors. I will definitely keep using these and purchase a bigger pack in the future.

The colorful pencils have a nice triangle shape & grip dots, which makes them easy to hold (especially for little hands).  The bonus was it came with a paintbrush too.

Cool Watercolors

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These colored pencils are so cool. Even just on their own, they have a rich pigment and color pretty smoothly. Then, when you add water, they turn into a watercolor-style paint. I have found that it works best to go over each color kind of separately with a wet brush - if you rub all over multiple colors, they will obviously just run together. It's a really fun thing for my kids to do, and they love turning their drawings into paintings.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son is about to enter kindergarten, but is still most comfortable using crayons and markers for coloring and play. He's improved his motor skills a lot over the past year, but practice is definitely still needed. These colored pencils are AWESOME. Not only do they have grips for little fingers, but they're also shaped such that the pencils can't constantly roll off the table. As with other Faber-Castell products, the colors are brilliant and the pencils are of the highest possible quality. My son loves using these to color and practice writing his letters and sight words; they're easy to hold and are helping him to improve his writing before going into school. Highly recommend!

Easy to hold for early writers!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been wanting to try watercolor pencils for awhile and I'm so glad I finally did. This set is super easy to use. The color range is great and it's easy to make even more colors by blending the pencils. Turning the pencils to watercolors is as easy as brushing on a bit of water. You can tell these pencils are very high quality. The colors stayed true and smooth and it was such a fun way to try watercolors in an easier way. My kids and I all loved experimenting with these pencils.

Great for small kids

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These watercolor pencils are amazing! They look like and write like a regular pencil, but when you add a bit of water they blend as watercolor. A beautiful effect made easier with the easy grip. These will be a mainstay in our art supplies!

Very cool pencils

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My preschooler always breaks her crayons, and I tried these color pencils, and they last much longer. Has all the major color palettes, and I especially love the finger grips. I noticed our kiddo actually prefers these to color and draw over any other medium.

She also adds  just a dash of water and oh my, I must say her drawings look absolutely stunning! These colored pencils are fun and easy to use.  I love the grip too. Each pencil has little circle bumps on it all the way down so no slipping by accident. I love them too and I highly recommend.

Nice

The grip of these pencils is nice, but unfortunately the colors seem a little faded or not vivid enough.  The water does blend them, but the effect is a bit unimpressive.  You can't dip the pencils in water and draw as you can with other watercolor pencils, but you can draw and then brush over it.  Some colors don't seem to draw very well, and I don't know if that's because it was wet or not.
