I love that the sharpener is high quality metal and will last a long time.  The polymer eraser is also really nice.  Note that a sketchpad or paper is not included, if you're gifting to a young artist who wants to begin right away.

Very easy to use right out of the box as everything is pre sharpened. There is an included sharpener as well. Get drawing!

He used this set to draw a portrait of his daughter and stated the set seems to be high quality for the price point and would recommend.

The pencils are easy to grip and leave an amazing soft or dark dusting depending on the look you are going for. I like that it has everything you need in one package. The eraser works perfect and doesn't leave a residue like others I've used. These charcoal pencils give sharp precise marks and are perfect for any artist new or seasoned.

The pencils were easy to use and sharpen. It comes with different graphite levels for your different needs. The eraser works well, and the blending stick is a must have.

It's easy to use, kid friendly and perfect for sketching/shading artwork. The packaging was really convenient, didn't take too long to unravel, and looked great. It's not a messy kit so clean up is super easy and you can use this kit for a variety of drawings etc.  I'm really loving this sketch and my child is having fun using it!

Solid charcoal set!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These pencils are great!  They come in various hardnesses and two colors to allow a variety of strokes and shading. The blending stump, eraser and sharpener complement the pencils to help make your artwork perfect.

Nice set of art pencils and accessories

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Charcoal set by Staedtler is very high quality.  The lumograph pencils are sturdy and have good points right out of the box without needing the included sharpener.  The blending stump worked flawlessly as well.  The eraser did what it was supposed to! Overall a great gift for a budding artist.

Excellent gift for artists!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Carole itself is really nice to work with. It has smooth texture blends really well, and you can get some really deep rich tones without having to press hard. It feels light weight and easy to control, which makes it great for sketching and adding detail. 

However, the eraser in this set was disappointing. It doesn't lift the charcoal very well and tends to smudge more than erase, which makes it harder to clean up highlights or mistakes. The dust level is about what you'd expect with charcoal , but combined with the eraser issue it can get a bit messy. 

Overall, the charcoal pieces themselves are really solid, but the included eraser brings the set down.
