Produces rattling sounds when in use, particularly when the ac kicks in.

Best deals at Walmart are online.  This sale could not be matched by targeting early summer warriors.. Just installed in my high rise condo BR.  This Danby 12,000 BTU model is outstanding in quiet performance, super easy installation, most modern electronic controls for a smooth operation.  Highly recommend purchasing this unit before they're sold out for the season! I'm 73yrs old and qualified to say this is the best one yet!

Best Portable AC 12,000 BTU

It's a good machine, and the lowest temp it cools to is 17 degrees Celsius.  It's about the usual noise level I would expect.  Attaching the hoses was pretty easy, and I needed help to cut the plastic window thing to size to fit the window, but otherwise set-up was pretty easy. The heat in BC right now is unbelievable so this is the only thing keeping me sane in my home.

Cools well.

This Danby model works amazingly. Our apartment gets much cooler now than before with our older air conditioner. It came with enough panels to fit our patio door, too.

Cool and Efficient

Things that work

The Danby functions well. I use it in my main living space area which is around 550sq ft. All other rooms are closed off in order to minimize overall coverage area. My apartment windows are all south facing so it gets very hot by 3 or 4 in the afternoon. The Danby (combined with a deck canopy to shade some of the windows) makes it tolerable to be indoors.
A also have an 8 year old 9000 btu unit (also Danby) now dedicated to the master bedroom. The new unit is quieter (not exactly silent, but certainly tolerable compared to my older unit), more compact and easy to use.

Having purchased an A/C in the heat was truly a relief for me and my furry pal that I wish I had purchased when the heat wave cooked us the first time...this A/C is very easy to assemble and attach to the window I am so grateful for Walmart sending but I wish the delivery was sooner but can understand that it had to come from the East. It works remarkably good and is also easy to adjust settings. I thank Walmart very much.

A Heatwave Must

This Danby 12000BTU AC work very well. Easy to install and handle. Easy to move as it's on wheels.
I got one wheel broken when I unboxed it inside the packaging.

Bad Transportation

The unit works great for the AC setting but when I turn on just the dehumidifier, cool air still pumps into the room which is fine for summer months but I do worry that in the winter when I want the humidifier on the room will be cold

Danby Review

I purchased 3 (12000 BTU) units (a couple of weeks ago) one was for my daughter. I've always had window units but thought these would cool my apartment about the same. They don't and they're set at the coolest level (17). I even have oscillating fans running with the a/c and they cool my rooms better. 
I really wish I could return them ALL. This was a massive expense, as I'm a senior, on a limited income, but I didn't have room to keep the boxes they came in, so I don't know how or if I can return for a full refund.
I'm getting my window units installed again, so when I come home my apartment will actually be cool/cold when I come home.
