Easy to use. Great little machine for the price. We had one similar some years back and it had a peddle with it. This one does not come with one but has a spot to plug one in. 
We bought this mainly to do small projects and repairs.

My granddaughter loves this sewing machine. She's almost nine and  she has been sewing all sorts of things. I'm glad she currently has an interest in sewing and that she will continue to learn more about this lost craft. This simple to operate sewing machine, and the guidance of both grandmas, has helped her maintain an interest in sewing.

Learning a lost craft

My child absolutely loves the Made By Me Toy Sewing Machine! It was easy to set up and is a fun way to introduce kids to basic sewing skills. The machine is lightweight, kid-friendly, and comes with everything needed to get started. It kept my child engaged and excited to create her own little projects. A great beginner sewing machine for young crafters and a fun hands-on activity that encourages creativity and confidence.

Perfect for a crafty kid

My daughter (6 years old) saw this and wanted it for Christmas. Since we opened it yesterday, she went through all the materials it comes with, went to JoAnn Fabrics twice, and my living room has turned into a blanket-making factory. This is a real sewing machine and it works really well. It is easy to use and my daughter is having so much fun making so many different crafts.

Best Christmas gift ever

I bought this for my 7 year old who always asks me to teach her to sew so I decided to get her her own one that she can use next to me. So this review is mostly based on her experience. She hated that the thread kept coming out of the needle once she tried to start sewing. The speed is slower than a regular sewing machine so that was nice and comfortable for her. She got to make some doll house bedding with the felt and filling that came with it. For me, I love that you don't have to stress and plug it up to the wall to use it. I sometimes need to do  quick mending of small hole on their clothes and I'm not in the mood to plug my machine in and sit down at my craft table to use the foot pedal, so I just pick this little machine up and mend things wherever I'm comfortable. Recommended of your little one's first machine and for those small repairs here and there.

Does what it's meant for

Needle eye is left to right, which is difficult to thread since you can't readily see the needle eye. A Dritz Needle Threader is your saving grace.  

There's nothing to keep the thread in the tensioner and so the thread often pops out of it.  The angle of thread in the guides is not enough to keep the thread in the tensioner.

Don't unscrew the needle clamp too far or the entire mechanism will fall off. Needle clamp is really hard to put back together due to really small parts.  

Machine is quite loud.

As an avid sewer myself, I bought this for my granddaughter as a simple first machine. I like that you can get cute, free patterns for simple projects online and has a needle guard. It seems to be well made and sewed well but was VERY difficult for a beginner to use. Since there is no foot pedal, it starts to sew as soon as you push the start button and doesn't stop until you turn it off. This makes it extremely hard to start/stop sewing safely or get nice beginning/ending stitches since you  can only hold your project with one hand.

Cute but too difficult for beginner

It works ok with supervision. The guard comes in really great but there are lots of times that the thread has to be fixed. For under $30 you get what you pay for I guess haha. I wish there was another speed other than “fast” and “slow” but it does okay for a first sewing machine.

Bought as a gift for my daughter

Um, no footpedal? so it's literally useless. thanks for wasting my time. No footpedal, no powercord, i put batteries in but can't use it without the non-existent footpedal, so yea im returning this

DO NOT BUY THIS

If I could give zero stars, I would. It doesn't turn on, even with brand new batteries. It has spots for both a 6v cord and a foot pedal- neither are included. We followed all instructions, and every single time we did the "manual stitches" as directed (before we knew it didnt work), the thread snapped and came out of the needle. We adjusted the tension, re read and re followed all instructions, and we still came out with thread that snapped under any tension and a dead sewing machine. 
For the price, I didnt have super high expectations, but I DID expect it to work. It was my daughter's Christmas gift, and the disappointment is real. 
Pass on this and buy the real deal to teach your kiddo. This isn't worth it even if it's free.
