Following up on a previous reviewer, I too bought the "universal" unit at the big box store that was supposed to fit all grills.  It did not; I returned it.  I had to order the Weber rotisserie online, and it is perfect.  As the previous reviewer said, don't waste your time and money on the generic brand.  Get the Weber and know that it will work.  (A bit pricey, but worth it.)

I bought it a few weeks ago and roasted a prime rib roast. It turned out perfect.  Removed the grates, put a pan of water under the roast and a wood chip smoker off to the side.  Planning a pork roast and chicken; maybe a turkey some day. 
The quality of the rotisserie is great.  It cost more, but it is much higher quality. Everything, including the nuts and bolts are stainless steel.  The spit splits in two sections, which makes it handy for storing.  I bought a small plastic toolbox and disassembled it fits in the top tray with some other stuff. The motor fits in the bottom.

Best quality I've found

I've only used this rotisserie once but it did a great job. The rotisserie specs pretty clearly stated that the largest chicken or turkey it can accommodate is 10 pounds. The turkey turned out great and our small group complimented the taste and how the turkey was not dry but juicy.

Great so far

This is an excellent tool for BBQ fans. Easy to assemble, install and use. It is the quality you would expect from Weber and is simple to use. The manual says it's good for up to 20#, and it looks like it will hold at least that much. Before purchasing this rotisserie, I read several reviews that complained about difficulties in assembling and operating the unit. These people probably shouldn't be allowed around open flames....there are not very many mechanical tools on this planet that are easier to use. I highly recommend this rotisserie if you enjoy your BBQ.

Weber Quality

I have the Spirit 'll so far I've done a rump roast and a turkey breast. The indirect cooking on this little Grill is second-to-none. Both turned out awesome. Looking forward to many more great meals to come. I uploaded photo because it's worth a thousand words.

Succulent new dinners

I'm loving this rotisserie. So far I've only made chicken with it. I've learned that it's really important to have the chicken trussed well. There's not a lot of room between the chicken and the drip pan (Spirit 3) so a loose wing can make the whole thing stop. But the bird is juicy and so tender! If you want to cook vegetables in the pan while the chicken is cooking, I recommend that you wait until the half-way point or else they get too crispy. And always use gloves when moving the rotisserie. It gets really hot and stays hot for a while after cooking.

Only used once so far. Initial feedback is good. Easy to set up and use. Worked well first time. Cooked a whole chicken. Meat was lovely and tender. Would have given 5 stars except I felt the bracket that attaches to the BBQ to support the motor was a little flimsy, but works. The power cord cold do with being longer. Had to purchase n extension, but that was to suit my personal situation/location.

Initial feedback - Good!

This is my second Weber rotisserie. The first was for a Genesis grill that I had  for a long time. In general, the new rotisseries works well. The offset tine lengths are an improvement over the older model, the motor easily turns the rotisserie rod even with heavier food loads. However, there are two problems.

First, for whatever reason, Weber went from a wooden handle to a steel handle and also reduced the diameter of the steel handle. This makes it harder to hold the  rod in a particular orientation when loaded. In addition, the steel handle gets hot enough so that it is uncomfortable to touch. Weber should go back to the larger-diameter wooden handle.

The second problem, which is fairly serious, is that it is impossible in my experience to tighten the tine assemblies to the rod without using a tool. The eyebolts simply do not grip the rod with sufficient force to keep the tines from rotating when the rotisserie is in operation. The eyebolts need to end in points that can grip the rod securely.

Rotisserie runs great but its too low to the burners, so that when you put a drip pan under what you're cooking it moves the pan.  I've tried a small roast and a small chicken and its the same.  It needs to be raised 3-4 inches to not interfere with the drip pan.

Prior to the purchase of our new Weber Spirit !! I was the proud owner of a Genesis Silver B for 17 years and used the rotisserie all the time.  I assumed our "old" Weber rotisserie would fit the Spirit but because of the change in the motor orientation decided to purchase a new rotisserie.  I am very disappointed.   The spit on the "new" is thinner than the "old" and less strong now that the design requires one to screw 2 pieces together.  the first time I attempted to use the spit bowed and it stopped revolving.  Luckily we had not recycled our "old" spit and was able to substitute.  In addition, the bracket that supports the motor, is not strong enough and the motor tends to move as the spit rotates.  I do not recommend this new product design and implore the company to rethink this product and make what was "old";  "new" again!  I look forward to a response from the Weber company.
