I use the 2 bucket method with inserts in both buckets. Like the design over other dirt guards. The holes are larger and decrease in diameter to keep dirt/grit from returning above. Fits higher in the 5 gallon buckets bc it narrows, but I use 2 4 gals.

Useful

Cool little tool to help with bigger contaminants. Basically, the heavier the contaminant, the more likely it will be separated by this trap. You should still use the two-bucket method, as this does not *clean* your water. Made well, very easy to remove, clean, handle, etc.

Pretty Cool, still need 2-bucket method

I have used this for the first time last weekend washing 3 vehicles. When I was done, I got a small bucket and scooped all the water out to this item. I then lifted it out of the bucket. There was a 1/4 inch of dirt and other stuff on the bottom of the bucket. So, in other words, this does work! Would have been washing my vehicles putting dirt back on them, Great product!

Great Idea

I actually got the green trap. I love how you can have different colors to differentiate between the other buckets. However I will never buy from chemical guys ever again. The shipping took a month to arrive. Contacted customer support with my concern and was left with a copy and paste reply. I was also told that I could not read which made me a little upset and thought that it was rude and discussing coming from customer support. Also I was told that because of where I live that is why I had to pay for shipping which is fine because I do know where I live, thank you for reminding me. I have lived here for over 40 years and am used to pay for shipping and waiting patiently for orders. However if I'm paying for express shipping I would expect it to come sooner than a month. FedEx is an express carrier. It was very aggravating being told that federal express is not an express carrier in my opinion is ridiculous especially since express is in the name. It should have been called just shipping instead of FedEx shipping. If I were anyone looking to buy from chemical guys I would recommend not to. Especially if you live outside of the main 48 states of the United States. I hope everyone reads this and is a very honest review and is not just a rant.

Gotta keep em separated

Upon receiving I was impressed with the attractive retail packaging and the fact that this is made in the USA. The quality is great, it is sturdy and seems like it will last forever. I clean my microfiber wash mitt by gently rubbing it back and forth across the dirt trap, I got the green one so I could see dirt easily. This thing stays clean and I rinse the soap out with a hose. Easy to use and maintain!

Nice quality, made in USA!

I bought a few buckets to wash my truck and figured I would throw one of these in there. It fits the CG bucket nicely but because it's a 4.5 gallon bucket. If you use a 5 gallon, this thing will be loose. It's a "nice to have" but don't think you need it.

Not really necessary but works

After I add the water in the bucket i insert the Cyclone Dirt Trap and it does not stay down. it floats which is annoying. I've tried putting the dirt trap in a angle and then flattening it out and that does not work. I tried putting it straight in and that does not work. the only way it works and it stays put is if you flip it upside down. I know its not the right way but it stays put and it stays snugged.

These dirt traps don't fit in the CG guys buckets. They are very loose and have a pretty significant gap between the dirt trap and the side of the bucket. I would have liked a snug fit. Poorly made, dirt trap just spins when trying to rub the wash mitt on it.

Doesn't fit in the Chemical Guys translucent buckets

I read the description, but still had a hard time with the item staying at the bottom of the bucket. I was told you have to put it in bucket first, then fill with water. I did the opposite. Either way you use it/put it in bucket, I think the item should stay at bottom of bucket and do it's job. Very angry about the whole situation. Probably put even more scratches/swirls on my car. I also read someone else's comment that theirs would not stay at the bottom of the bucket also and had dirty water sitting on top. Would be nice if I was offered a refund for this item due to the frustration/item not working as described.
