The Penn Plax Cascade 1000 Canister Aquarium Filter is a heavy-duty external filtration system. The Cascade 1000 (CCF3UL) is for aquariums up to 100 gallons and pumps 265 gallons per hour (GPH). Delivering powerful mechanical, chemical, and biological filtration, which produces crystal clear water in both fresh and marine aquariums. Crystal Clear Water for Fresh and Marine Aquariums: The Cascade Advantage! The floss pad removes fine particulate matter, while the activated carbon media removes toxins and impurities from the water, leaving a cleaner and healthier environment for your fish and other aquatic life. The coarse sponge makes for an abundant surface area for proper biological filtration by promoting bacterial growth to effectively remove waste, excess food and harmful ammonia and nitrates. This durable aquarium filter is equipped with quick-disconnect tubing connectors that can also be utilized to control the filter's flow rate. To ensure a secure and water-tight fit, this dynamic fish tank filter utilizes four locking clamps along with a motorhead equipped with an integrated O-ring. Filter media is included free with each canister filter.

I have a pleco and a turtle and boy was my tank a mess every day.  This filter has been running for about three weeks now and it cleaned up everything.  I can hardly hear it and it's right near my bed.  If this lasts a good long time, I'll definitely will replace it with the same company.

I bought for my red eared slider tank. Theis was extremely easy to hook up and surprised how easily it primed!! I have heard horrible stories of people buying really expensive filters only to fight putting it together and then getting it primed was another fight. Not this one! Easy peasy! Make sure your knife is sharp if you have to cut the heavy duty tubes to fit your desired length. So far I'm very pleased. Wish I had bought this from the beginning with my turtle!

Easy-peasy

Wish I would've spent the money on this filter a long time ago. WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY!!!  I should add this does come with EVERYTHING YOU NEED. Like the hoses and spray bar and filter inserts, etc. For some reason they just don't have that in the picture. I'll add a picture to my review if I can. I use on my 55 gallon tank with Goldfish and a Pleco.  This filter works amazing and is super quiet. I've been using for a week and tank is Crystal clear. Love it!!  Again I have to say this thing is super quiet and worth the money!

Great quiet filter

i love my newest canister filter! i was coming from a similar eheim 2217 canister and really have no other experience with others.  I chose this because i have a 60 gallon tank and it seemed to be a good value. ive had it about 6 months and have no complaints! the water pressure is still good and im very happy with it!

I think its a great product
 I bought it for my turtle in a 40 gallon breeder tank. IT HAS STRONG FLOW. MOTOR ITSELF  IS VERY QUIET however if you leave sprayer above water, its very loud. I turn mine down on the levers or sometimes I leave sprayer under the water. Great product for $60 compared to others.

I own a Cascade 1500, 1200 and three 1000's, all are great filters with zero issues. The only thing I don't like about them is the wattage they pull but they preform better than any hang on back filter I've ever had and for the price they trump other mor expensive canisters. I load them down with several pounds of Seachem Matrix biomedia and Seachem de*nitrate for the best filtration possible in a canister filter. Set up is a breeze and cleanup is manageable.

I baught this filter a month ago using it on my 70g and I love it! Works great keeps water crystal clear and its quiet. everything you need in it to run right out of the box.

Worth the money.

I have not had this filter longer than 6 months and the intake valve is leaking not something I can put Teflon tape on it's the actual little knob you turn to shut off the water coming into the filter as a slow steady leak customer service has been horrible supposably there is a 3 year manufacturer warranty but they will not cover anyting

Was excited for this filter but disappointed now. It is not clearing the cloudy water in my 55 gallon tank.  I did not want to use water clarifier but now I have to.
