This unit is a bit different than others I've seen. It is only about 2/3 the size and quite a bit lighter, which makes it fairly easy to place and/or move around. The exhaust hose hides away inside the unit itself and the window attachment screws on to it, so there are really no extra parts to carry around except the remote. The unit has carry handles and is actually light enough for them to be of use.

However, this unit is more basic than I would have liked. It does not oscillate, so you basically point it where you want it to blow. There is also no way to convert the units of temperature to Celsius from Fahrenheit (this would be handy here in Canada). It has timer and sleep functions, but they simply let you set the number of hours you want it to be on or off for a single use (no recurring "ON-at-6:00am-OFF-at-8:00pm" programs here)

The unit cools well enough, but I don't imagine it would be up to cooing an entire house. I have mine in a 12x12 bedroom and it is more than up to the task. If we were to have a string of high-humidty 30+ degree days, it may struggle to keep up, but we haven't had weather like that since I've owned it.

Speaking of the bedroom, in that small environment, this thing is LOUD. It has two fan settings: "loud" and "louder". However, it is a consistent, fan-like sound which isn't high-pitched or annoying. The only thing that can disturbed my sleep a bit was the compressor kicking in and out over the course of the night. In the future, I may just set the temperature as low as it will go (so the compressor never kicks out) and then just shut the unit down with the remote when the room reaches a desirable temperature.

The window attachement is designed to go in a vertical-sliding window (like most air conditioners), so I had to modify it a bit to fit in my horizontal-sliding bedroom window. Fortunately, the design was such that this was not difficult.

The display on this unit is also quite poor (contrary to the product images I saw). It appears blurred/cloudy almost like there's a film on it (there's not, I checked). It's legible, but just barely. The remote also does not have a display to show your current mode/temperature setting like I've seen on other units. It would be handy to, for example, know from a distance whether the unit is in "cooling" or "automatic" mode. This makes the remote pretty unreliable for anything but turning the unit on/off.

Overall, I would recommend this unit for its small size/weight and decent cooling ability.

Decent enough unit for moderate cooling requirements...

This AC unit cools a 9 x 12 room. I like the time setting energy saving feature. I can set it to go off after I fall asleep, or to turn on before I get home from work. I do wish that the air vent was not stationary. The air can only blow straight ahead, so it limits where it can be placed. Great product for the Walmart price. I checked it out online and it sold for a much higher price by other distributors.

Good Product

I was skeptical at first, really wanting a window A/C but couldn't make it work. Ordered this unit and was impressed right away. The room is fairly large, with one queen bed and 2 dressers, and an entertainment center. This unit cools the entire room, and runs on Low as the High setting is almost too cold!!!! I would recommend this to anyone who needs a floor unit, for the price it is an exceptional value. I highly recommend it!!!!!

Wicked good buy

Product has not been able to cool the area I purchased it to cool. Approx 250 Square Feet. The operating manual does not mention that the unit must be drained. In 80 percent humidity the unit produces about 1/2 gallon of water per day. Further the unit condenses another pint to quart of water from the chasis. Besides installing a drain line, I had to further install a drip pan. Attempts to contact the vendors customer service line have resulted in my leaving two voice mails and I have not heart from Royal Sovereign

Not Happy with my Purchase

Bought this unit cool one area of a garage type room. It was only going to be used once a week when we cook for the homeless. Its airflow is not powerful enough to feel it unless you are right up next to the unit. It would not cool the area at all. I used the unit one time and the second time we tried to use it the wheel broke off. I mean just broke right off. I boxed it right back up and took it back to the store. They were very nice about taking it back, so all turned out fine.

Disappointed

It has a few flaws but overall a good buy once you figure out how to use it. I have a huge bedroom and it keeps it cool in the daytime and cold at nite. I would recommend this product if you are tring to cool 1 room only.

Works Well

I purchased the product on 6/13/10 for a large (440 sq ft) room. I'm most impressed with the cooling abilities of this unit. It cools this large room quite quickly, and I don't find it overly noisy.
Cons:The main fault I find is that it just has an exhaust tube, no intake tube, so creates negative pressure in the room. This draws the hot attic air down through the bathroom vent into the room to equalize the air pressure, so have to keep that door closed.
The drain cap is placed at the very bottom making it difficult to drain without spillage, and I find the external water tank difficult to remove and replace. But I've only done this once.
Over all, I find it a good purchase.

Impressed

Bought this product did not at all cool one room at all just made it hotter from the unit being on .Example room was 84 when turned on door close temp got too 98 in 1 hour . After being on 4 hours the side frooze . Tried calling the dealer too no avail made you go to web site , which I had wrote them 6 emails asking what I could do , no response .Then called once again the dealer left 20 or more messages on whom evers answering machine . Not one call back at all to help me . Happy ending called Walmart told them my story and they where happy to have me bring it back to them and they would deal with the manufactors of the product . Hats off to walmart for the best customer service ever !!!!Do not buy this product if you do you will not I repeat not get any where with the (dealer - manufactor of this product )

Total junk and lack of customer service

I loved the outside design of this product. It's very compact and looked good. It was working very well for a few days, then all at once it started making this horrible noise and the next thing I knew I had water spilling out from underneath.
The water tank that came with it never even filled up. Apparently it had been leaking all along because my carpet is ruined! So I returned it to Walmart.

Very Disappointed

This until does a really great job of cooling the upstairs. It's fairly quiet but larger than I thought it would be. The installation directions that come with the unit didn't match this one at all. I kept looking for extra pieces that I didn't need. Once I downloaded the correct directions, it was easy to install.
