I recently purchased the ab glider platinum and so far so good. Honestly, I don't trust these type of infomercials and their equipment but I decided to give it a try. I saw a few negative complaints but I still thought it might be worth it.

The box was in good shape and it would have been nice if the box wasn't so advertised on what was in it. It took me 30 to 45 minutes to put it together and I did it by myself.

It does seem pretty hard to use but that is normal since you have to build yourself up to using it properly. Some people have complained that their arms are working more than their abs. That is to be expected since you have never used the machine before. When I tried it, my arms were killing me but I can also feel a little bit of tenseness in my abs so I think it just might be working. My arms feel somewhat little sore to but I expected that.

I am 5'7" and I don't have any trouble reaching the bars. They seem just right for me. Also, I can decide to change the height of the bars. It gives you 2 options. Love the adjustable handle bars. I also love the incline. It's great because I can change the intensity of my workouts.

Make sure you are using the equipment correctly because if you are, you will feel the burn in your back, abs, obliques, arms. I love it.

I plan on purchasing the weights that go with it as well for a more intense workout.

I will update you all on the ab glider and any results in the future. So far, I am loving it.

Sturdier than I expected. Does require some upper arm strength for the upward curls for the abdomen, but not impossible. Can't do many yet, but number is increasing. Sideways swings easy and rather fun. All in all, easy to use. Doesn't make me "feel bad" to walk by it, but is rather fun enough to make me stop and use it for a bit one or two times a day. Variations on dvd will keep it from getting boring and routine and I will always be challenged by it.

worth the money

I haven't had the product long enough to really start seeing differences but I can feel them. This is a great upper body workout and its nice to have the videos with it. It's a little expensive but that's okay. In my opinion the AB Glider Platinum is easy to put together. I can see where this product might be difficult for some people, particularly if you don't have a decent core to begin with. But I don't think difficult means impossible, it would just take determination and persistence. Anyway, I really like it so far and am pleased with my purchase.

Great workout!

I purchased the unit today it was fairly ease to assemble , one thing I did find was that you can not tighten the base screws until you have them all threaded (started) it took me about a half hour to put it together.The unit seems a little unstalbe on my carpeted flooors, the knealing pad seems to be comfortable the one thing I dont like are the handle bars they seem to be ackward and while using the machine I feel the burn more in my arms than in my ab's, I will update my post in a few weeks after I have used the item for a while. I have'nt heard any one say that they have lost inches or that the ab glide has flattened thier stomach

The jury is still out

After watching all of the promotional videos for this item & comparing it to the other products out there, I decided to buy it. It looked so easy to use & FUN that I thought it would be such a great addition to my collection of "Oh So Useful" purchases ;-) Well.... it was reasonably easy to assemble & really doesn't take up much space BUT it is NOT as easy to use as they make it seem in the infomercials.... I sustained double shoulder injuries back in the fall of 2009 & just had shoulder surgery June of 2011 so needless to say I don't quite have the strength in my upper body like I used to. I really did not think that using this machine was going to require THAT MUCH of an upper body workout since in essence it is an Ab Machine. However, the angle of the machine is NOT the same as it is shown in the infomercials. I feel like I have to lean all the way forward just to reach the handle bars & really have to pull to get myself in the upright position to start the crunches. I don't think I am the 1st person who purchased this machine to notice this. Of course, only AFTER I noticed the problem, did I start reading up on everyone elses issues & watching youtube videos referencing the same problem. I m 5'4" which is relatively average height so I didn't think this would be too much of a stretch, but even my boyfriend tried it & watched the videos & completely agreed with me. Adjustable or not, the angle is completely different than that of the machine used for the infomercials. They are shown in more of an upright starting position when actually you are more leaning forward almost in a Plank like position which is MUCH more difficult to manage if your upper body is not 100%. We tried adjusting the machine to all 3 levels & still found it to be difficult. The machine is flat out different than the ones in the videos....
I'm sure that once I get the hang of it & my upper body strength builds up that I might not find this as a downside, but for now it is VERY frustrating!! My fault for thinking the infomercial was showing the public how it really works....
On the plus side, it has other ways to work out that don't aggravate my injuries. The machine also has a side crunch exercise mimicing that Ab Circle machine which is GREAT!! I love the fact that you can change positions with ease & get different kinds of work-outs from the one machine.
All in all it is a good purchase. I just wish I knew the angle was going to be so difficult for me to manage because honestly, I would not have purchased it. Now that it's been assembled, there's no way I'm taking the darn thing apart to return it... I'll just have to get used to it...

it has it's pros & cons....

I would recommend it; however, I myself cannot keep it. I have tendonitis in my wrist and that created a problem for me. You also have to have upper body strength if you are thinking about this machine. Sad to say but I will be returning it for something that is less strenuous on my hands.

Good but not for me.

My wife and I wanted an affordable workout machine that worked our mid-section. We researched the different machines out there and decided on the Ab Glider Platinum. As my wife and I get into shape we also wanted a machine that could grow with us. The Platinum allows you to add weights and also allows you to raise the angle of the slider. This increases the energy needed to do the workout. While working out, you are not only working the mid-section of your body, but also your arms. The Platinum is well built. The seat is very comfortable, the slider is smooth, the machine stays in place even on carpet. Since I"m retired, we wanted a workout unit that was also low impact. The Platinum is. The unit does not take up a lot of space in the room, even while working out. It is easily usable in apartments where rooms can be smaller. It is also easily movable. There are three workout DVDs which come with it.

There is one design problem and it is one you can work around. The one problem we've found is the digital counter which mounts on the top of the slider. It is made of plastic and is held in place with a couple of small screws. When you mount or dis-mount the Platinum be sure not to put any pressure on this unit as it will surely break from it's mount. We've learned how to mount and dis-mount, (by holding onto the handles), without touching the digital counter unit. The digital counter does have many functions and is easily read.

Overall, we highly recommend the Pro Form Ab Glider Platinum for those who wish to workout with low impact. It allows you to really work your mid-section and arms. It is also affordable. If the manufacturer re-designs the plastic counter unit, (possibly encasing it in metal), then my wife and I give the Pro-Form Ab-Glider Platinum a five star rating!

Found What We Were Looking For in the Platinum!

I am 53 years and a little over weight( abt 20 pounds) I walk alot so I am not in terrible shape just out of shape. I was not stong enough to use this machine. I think if you were not overweight and didnt have to pull your bottom half weight up on this machine, it would work for you. The premise is sound. But if you are a big person or heavy on your bottm half you will probably have trouble. I could not bring myself up on this machine . My arms were just not strong enough

Not for use if you are over weight or out of shape

Bought this for my wife and myself to shape up core, and found there is not much isolation to those muscles, as some other reviews had suggested as well. My wife has a hard time using it, as it requires a great deal of arm, chest, and back strength to do most of the movements. I expected some good soreness to my abs the day after 1st use, and found little to none, but had some tricep soreness. There isn't the focus on ab muscles you get from crunches or other equipment-less exercises. After watching the videos and seeing some of their workout suggestions (some off the glider, using like a bench), I realized it is more of general upper body workout than isolated abs. I have found other ways to use the glider for slightly more isolation (that they didn't show) but again may be difficult for some.
The quality of construction of the equipment is good for the price (minus drilling out couple holes during assembly), and still is a decent overall workout if that's what your looking for.

Upper body workout - yes, ab shredder - no!

Though this machine looks very effective but I guess its primarily meant for tall people.I am 5'3" and handle bars were too far away for my comfortable reach. Instead of a stronger abs I ended up with severe backache. Wish the handles were adjustable. Machine is big and bulky so you should have good amount of space to keep it. Assembly took almost an hour and half with 2 people.
My machine display came broken when arrived. Needless to say it went back to the store. But I feel, if you are tall, this machine can be good and beneficial considering its sturdy built and price.
