If you're considering a universal remote that has some advanced features, such as volume punch through and learning capability, but don't want to spend the extra money for a higher end model, like a Logitech Harmony, then this is a very good alternative. It takes time and patience to set up any universal remote control and part of the setup involves trial and error. Lower priced models--like this one--require even more patience. On the plus side, this RCA branded model is manufactured by Audiovox, which maintains a toll-free customer service helpline should you run into a snag. I called a couple of times and found the customer service agents to be very helpful.

This model was less than $14 online at walmart.com, with free site-to-store shipping, a terrific price for the features and build quality. Now, we have one remote that controls our home theater (including an older VCR) and all of the buttons on the emote work as intended. The master power button even turns on/off the entire system.

A very good remote, overall. It is possibly the least expensive remote that works with Roku, and it does everything well. The instructions for programming are a tiny bit hard to follow, but not impossibly so. The buttons are well made, and it worked on first try.

Easy to set up. Very good signal strength. Very good key placement. Easy to balance with grips on botrom.

It took maybe half an hour to program this to control a Toshiba TV, a Pace cable/DVR box, a Panasonic blu-ray player, and a Vizio soundbar. I was amazed at how simple it was to customize it to do exactly what I want. I've never had a universal remote that allowed me to do everything the original remote did -- certainly not one in this price range. The learning feature is excellent -- if some of the commands from a device's original remote aren't included in the basic set of commands on this remote, just point the remotes at each other and map the old button to a designated button on this remote. It couldn't get much simpler!

Easy to program and VERY customizable

Very good Universal Remote Control But....
It was a little hard to program for my brand devices &
It even works with my Digital Converter Box
But the disappointment it does not bring up the on screen menu on the devices I programed it for!!! :(

Very Good Universal Remote Control!! l

I recently bought a 3 device RCA remote and it worked with my digital tv converter box.  I was happy with the 3 device remote but it could not be programmed to use a dvd player and a vcr at the same time.  It could only be used for one or the other.  This 6 device remote has separate buttons for dvd and vcr, so I am happy with that since it eliminated a remote.  The problem is, this RCA remote works with fewer digital tv converter boxes.  It does not work with mine, so it didn't eliminate anything.  It is easy to use and program and overall I am happy with it, but only 4 stars because it does not work with the converter box when the 3 device remote did.

Works on all my equipment fortunately a "learn" feature was not needed. Not super easy to set up but once its done, works fine. The master power is a nice feature but it toggles everything its set up to switch. This means it switches everything whether its being used or not. Would be nice to have a master POWER ON or POWER OFF instead.

* The latch for the batter compartment broke after a few months

The Ugly
- The buttons start wearing out after 6 months of moderate use. As time passes you have to press the buttons harder to register. Eventually they stop working.

Wears out after 6 months

Wouldn't accept any of the codes for my Vizio tv. I had to manually search for the code. Once the code was found, it controlled the volume and power, but nothing else. Also, the remote wouldn't work with my comcast cable box. I Wouldn't recommend this remote to anyone. I'm returning mine right now since it's completely useless. If it can't even control a cable box with DVR, I can't imagine it will be of much use to any customer these days.
