I was amazing by the number of channels offered on the Roku. I also own an Apple TV and the selection doesn't compare. Some channels are free, but most you have to pay for. You can't watch TV shows for free like you would on your computer, but rather have to pay per show or season. Roku also doesn't have YouTube, but there's a way around this if you stream it from your phone. Overall, great product. Definitely adds a lot of entrainment to our family room.

This is the second one that I have purchased. It's a Xmas gift that was requested by the receiver after seeing my first one. Very happy with it's performance

Easy to use

Roku is a great steaming device. Wonderful way to watch internet T.V. I really had little idea of what it really did & how. Now that I have experienced the use of it I would highly recommend it if you have a high speed internet connection.

Easy to install & operate. Outstanding product.

I have had several streaming devices to which NONE can compare to this baby. Fast loading, lots of extras and about as easy to set up as it can get. The price is about as good as you can get for this kind of quality.

The Best!

As the title suggests, if you're a typical Canadian, this is great for streaming Netflix (if you don't already have a desktop, laptop or video game console hooked up to a particular tv) If you subscribe to a DNS service ie: unblockus or unotelly, and use their DNS servers on your wifi router, you can unlock A LOT more content (the US market and abroad) and tap into the better Netflix titles as well as Crackle, M-GO, Vudu, Amazon video etc. They have a few free channels but really, all the decent ones are pay subscriptions. You have to be careful too as your credit card or Paypal account WILL be associated with this box. Some channels offer free trials for a week or month and then you'll start getting billed. It would also be a good idea to keep younger children away from the remote as they may unknowingly purchase content. What's cool about the Roku 3 is that you're able to plug in a USB key and it'll stream movies from the USB port (although it's limited to only 2 video formats) Overall I'm happy with it and don't regret my purchase

Great for streaming Netflix

This device does not have a lot of advertised channels. A lot of times the ones you have won't work properly. When adding private channels most of good ones only work in the states and rest of them are with a monthly subscription. If you want to watch us content you have to subscribe to block us which is another 6 bucks a month. The only thing I used it for was Netflix because everything else wasn't as good. Device has potential but not for me right now. 

Canadians don't bother

I just bought this about 4 days ago, and I must say I am very disappointed! I've wanted to get one of these for awhile, so I was super excited when I decided to finally splurge and get myself one. I have cable at home, but I'm constantly working or at school so I pretty much never have the time to actually watch any tv and am paying for it for no reason really.. So I decided that I would have it disconnected after buying one of these! As soon as I got home I quickly set it up, which literally took less than 10 minutes. It's really neat that this box is sooo tiny and yet has so much in it.. But the movies and shows that everyone is raving about are super old, nothing that a typical 23 year old like myself would be interested in. There's no Canadian channels like global or anything like that, there's just a bunch of old movies and shows that someone much older would probably appreciate. The only cool thing was the vevo, Facebook, and netflix app. Nothing else appealed to me sadly, and I will be returning this tomorrow. Maybe in the future if they added more modern and newer things I would consider purchasing this again.

Not as great as I thought..

I read the reviews here and decided it couldn't be all that bad...but it was (for my liking anyhow) Before I purchased I called Roku Canada directly and they sent me a channel list and lo and behold when I got the units (I set ONE up) to see what it had to offer. In my opinion it is garbage channel wise, and you have to be very careful what is FREE and what is NOT FREE when selecting from the menu! So, I was disappointed and called ROKU back and said the channel list you sent me for Canada is not anywhere on the screen (menu) and they told me point blank they can't add them until they get the streaming rights to any programming.... I reset the one I was trying out and packed them in the box and took them all back to Walmart. The reviews on here seem to be good but for me (myself) I found it to be bloated with possibilities of channels but not many were free, and some that were like FOX was OLD PROGRAMMING from years ago. Also the live feeds for channels are to me just some guy/gal streaming from their home, etc.
To each their own on programming but I truly felt it was full of garbage only! I even put a detailed note in the box for whomever receives these back at ROKU or Walmart Head office and I notice today when they asked me to review this the price dropped a lot from 2 weeks ago.

I returned 3 of them

I was given this slick new media box for Christmas but unfortunately i can even turn it on! Why you ask because it FORCES you to input all of your personal info and valid credit card info before you can even see the home screen. Roku goes as far as to bill your credit card $1 then refunds it to confirm your information is valid. If you thought you could use your already payed for netflix account or watch some free TV you are incorrect. Please try a brand that is less interested in data mining. I will be returning this and getting an android TV box. Also many features are not available because we are not is the US.
