We were looking for a convenient way to dry foods for snacks at work, during hikes or camping. This product works great! Simple to use and makes great tasting dried treats. We got compliments at work on how good our dried fruits taste. I've recommended it to friends, family and colleagues.

Great product!

I haven't even had it very long but it has already paid for itself in treats for our greyhound alone.  Recent recalls prompted this purchase and we have used it pretty constantly since it arrived.  I've even made jerky for my husband a few times and he wants to try it himself now.  ANYTHING that can get him to prepare food is a worthwhile investment.

It's so quite that you wouldn't realize it is on unless you are right beside it.  We live in  a small space so that is another added bonus.

It's paid for itself!

I have 2 of these and love them. I use them at least twice a week for drying herb, jerky, fruit leather and making my own coconut flour. I had them for 3 years already and still as good as new,

I bought this model and it works number 1. I tried the fruits and herbs. The next thing I want to try is fish and fruit rolls. It doesn't make much noise.

Walk very well

I loved the product at first.  Then i noticed a tray was cracking so i was super careful with all the trays.  Then all eventually cracked due to the heat of the dehydrator.  Not engineered very good.  I exchanged it for a new one while it was under warranty.  Keep your reciept!

Works good but plastic becomes brittle

For my part, I bought 3 devices, all thermostats were not working properly.2, no heat, the third, with heat but still remained, still 140 degrees. You are making your deduction. I turned them all over. No need to buy these devices, unless the manufacturer, corrects the situation. I bought a salton freezer, which works very well.

Salton Dehydrator

The trays are made of a brittle cheap plastic that cracks and breaks very easily. We used ours to make beef jerky and the trays started to break by the third time we used it. Now after about six months two trays are completely broken. TOTAL PIECE OF GARBAGE!!!!

Do Not Buy

Worked great at first, but by the 3rd time trays started breaking and I took a lot of care with it. By the 5th time used most of the trays broke.

brittle trays

I bought one recently and had one from a friend as well to make jerky and the plastic racks are splitting all over the place after only 6 batches of home made jerky made within the last 4 months (actually the racks formed cracks after the very first use). I just tried to clean one rack in the sink and cant even use a dish brush on it to clean it because the plastic rim started to split off with the slightest pressure. Clearly this plastic can not handle the heat that the dehydrator puts out!. I will never buy a Salton one again unless they change what material the racks are made of. Very poorly made product!.

Don't buy!!

Bought to dehydrated herbs & fruit. Seemed ok quality for the price & worked good for the first 6 hrs at low/med temp. The next day I was using it at low temp & when I checked it at 2 hrs there was no heat, tried the higher temp and still no heat. The cost to ship this to Salton for warranty repair, plus return shipping would have cost more than I paid for the dehydrator. After researching online the problem I experienced seems to be fairly common. I wish I would have saved up for a better quality dehydrator because Salton products are worth the price you pay. I'm Currently using this dehydrator for target practice. I won't be buying any Salton products and if I could give this thing 0 stars I would
