I bought it for the apps provided with it. It virtually turns my TV into a Smart TV.

In particular, I wanted to be able to play my VUDU movies and it does that.

A bonus feature for me was Pandora. I like being able to listen to music in my favorite genre while doing other things in the room, like reviewing Walmart products.

I only have a couple of Blu-ray movies and don't know that I see any significant difference from DVD yet, but it could be I don't have the eyesight that others may have. It could be that the movies I have are not new enough to take advantage of the new technology.

For my present needs it is just what I was looking for. I wish I had more time to sit and watch or listen.

My First Blu-ray

Revived my DVD player very quickly. Small, compact and light weight. Extremely easy to set up and it was running smoothly in no time. The set up screen was intuitive and self-explanatory. The quality is excellent and I can find no faults at all. I am delighted with the purchase and would heartily recommend it - especially at the price I paid.

BD-h5900/ZA samsung BLU-ray Player

Awesome!! Easy setup, I bought one for my family room for the tv and decided because the price was reasonable bought 2 more for the kids bedrooms. Love it. Wouldn't buy a different brand, I actually stay with the brand of the tv which is all the way SAMSUNG

Everything I expected

We are very pleased with our blu-ray player. It was very easy to set up and we started watching right away. The price on Walmart was the best I found! And we received it several days earlier than expected in the mail! We had an old Samsung blu-ray that bit the dust and upgraded to this and our old controller works on this - makes us very happy!

Excellent

I have an excellent sound system (Yahama receiver + Paradigm speakers) but it doesn't have HDMI or Optical. I was happy to find this wifi Blu-Ray player with Digital Coax out. It does not limit me to the 2 front speakers which I was concerned with. I am getting 5.1. The picture if incredible (HDMI to my TV) and the sound, also. For the price I'm happy so far. Only played 3 movies (2 BR and 1 DVD). I'm not crazy about the wifi but then I have never streamed movies. I will probably play with that in the future. It's a little slow getting around the menu without a keyboard. If the menu portion was easier I'd give it a "5" but then for playing movies it's a "6".

Samsung BD-H5900/ZA

I have owned the player for about 2 weeks and have encountered glitches with the apps (including Netflix and Pandora). Connection to the app is inconsistent. Several times the sound and picture have not been in sync. The internet connection is strong (often I am the only one home). I will continue to seek advice, and "troubleshoot" these difficulties. Eventually, if unresolved, I will have to use it as a disc player, only. The frustration will be too overwhelming, otherwise.

I purchased this model to replace the BDF 5900 that stopped working after three months. I bought it primarily to stream media. My issues are similar to the other reviewers. This model has a very limited app selection and there does not appear to even be a way to add apps through the on-screen menus. I will soon attempt through the USB port if that's possible. Right now any attempt to use any app freezes the unit so there appears to be a connectivity problem. That said, I'm writing this review from my hp laptop which is connected wirelessly within 10 feet of where my Blue Ray player is plugged in. The design of the unit is attractive and I did play a Blue-Ray disc to test it and the playback was terrific so no complaints there.

Off to a bad start

I purchased this player for its ability to stream content over the internet. With the exception of Netflix and Youtube apps, there are few apps available at this time. You can shop something called the Opera TV Store and find several things suitable for a five year-old child. I checked the Samsung website to see which apps were available and this model number isn't even listed. As I already had a Bluray player, I'm wishing I had purchased a ROKU streaming device.

Where are the Apps?

I bought this two weeks ago to replace a very old frustratingly slow blu-ray player only to discover one that was worse. It plays blu-rays OK if you don't mind the wait. The buttons on the unit seem to only be suggestions or possibly just decorations. It literally took me ten minutes to get it to eject a disk today. I would push the eject button, the display would say open although the tray wasn't, then it would open the tray then suck it back in before I could get the disk out. I finally grabbed the tray and held it to remove the disk.
Netflix wouldn't work until I upgraded the firmware. Now it works occasionally, as long as there is no disk in the machine. Sometimes it gets into an endless loop of Netflix saying it can't connect and to check the settings while the network menu say it's connected. I even replaced my router to no avail. This is going back to the store!

Not worth the frustration
