This ice chopper is not only good for breaking ice, but it's also effective against heavy snow. I use it to break down the snow from the front of my driveway piled up by plowing services. After I chopped them, it's much easier to shovel. 
What makes this ice chopper outstanding is the spring system. It's the only one that can absorb the shock impact when breaking ice. It is such an invaluable feature. 
The build quality is solid. The handles are comfortable and the blade doesn't wear quickly.

Snow Joe 7 breakers the ice.

I've used my ice chopper a couple of times now and I like it. It seems very sturdy and the impact reducer/shock absorber really does make a big difference to my back.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very easy to use. Lightweight chops soft ice easily. Remove packed snow tire tracks off driveway with little effort and quickly. The shock relief handle works great.

great ice scraper sturdy and strong well made the spring inside the tube below the handle really takes the shock off your hand

by and large it lived up to it's claims about shock absorption, I think I expected a little more cushion, but it is distinctly better than without any.
It seems very sturdy, well built, good materials.  Seems like it will last a long time in New England conditions.  I've only had chances to use it a few times so far.

My new ice chopper

Had major ice conditions and looked to improve on my steel garden shovel; not as long as I hoped (I'm 6'6”) and hope the bolts hold well. So far so good.

A necessary ice implement.

I am very happy and found it very effective. As promised, it was easy on my shoulders and wrists.  A few of my neighbours used it too and really liked it too

Like my ice-chopper

I live in Alaska and bought this to replace a different one that broke last year, so far I've only got to use it 2 times but the spring action is great, the head could be sharpened a lil, and the length of the shaft  could be a lil longer but other than that,  good tool. Best thing is definitely the spring action

The Best Thing is......

This product does not function as described.  It is poor quality and a total waste of funds.  There is no sharpness to the chopping "blade" and  the  "blade" does not break ice apart.   The "spring loaded" feature is a joke!  This product is garbage!  Avoid!   We  will NEVER EVER purchase anything from this company ever again.

WASTE OF MONEY.  POOR QUALITY.  AVOID.
