Very substantial, the ribbed texture makes it have better grip, and of course as stainless steel, it isn't rusting.

I am happy with my purchase

This set is cheap, and it definitely feels it. I bought 2 of these sets for home. I don't buy the expensive stuff because the kids always throw them away on accident. But these are terrible. I feel like they missed a step in the manufacturing process that buffs the sharp edges. The handle corners are super sharp and make it extremely uncomfortable to eat anything with because they constantly push against my hand. Even the edge of the spoon is so sharp, I was eating out of a plastic bowl and it shaved a piece of plastic off the bowl. Yeah, not good. These other reviewers were obviously gifted these and did not use them or they would easily find out how awful they are. Do not recommend.
