The old formula of Tom's unscented deodorant was the one and only deodorant on the market that did not cause me to have an allergic reaction and I relied on its consistency.  It worked really well and while it was unscented, the formula itself smelled really nice.   Was there an actual environmental or sustainability reason for the formula change?

Does not work as well as previous formula. I have been using Tom's of Maine deodorant for well over 5 years and it worked perfectly for me. I saw they changed the formula, got a little concerned and ordered as many of the older ones as I could. I finally ran out last month and bought the new one pictured here. Those other reviews are right. 
First, it does not last me through a full day any more when the previous formula did great. in fact, if I wasn't sweating much and didn't shower, I could go 2 days without any smell. Now, I can't get through a single non-sweaty day without needing to re-apply. Second, when I do re-apply I start to feel sticky and no one has time for that.

One point in their favor, maybe, they dropped the "Long Lasting" label from the container. Truth in advertising?

Tom's, please bring back the previous formula. It is superior in every way to this new one.

New Formula is Worse

I have been using Toms of Maine Unscented Deodorant for 20 years. Gradually over the years I have watched the number of natural active ingredients dissapear. In recent years all that was left was hops extract. Hops are naturally antibacterial and anti microbial, so the product still worked well enough for me. Recently the product has moved from a white container to a green one and with that change the last ingredient that actually does anything to prevent odor has disappeared. This is now a placebo product and my armpits stink for the first time since high school. I really don't want to bother with finding a different brand that works for me. Please correct this error Toms of Maine.

Where did the hops extract go?

I bought a couple of lemon grass sent and I smell horrible!!! Literally after two hours and I can't stand it. I'm very sensitive I'm my underarms so I'm so disappointed that I found out toms changes the formula. Now I literally have to go buy a new deodorant because people know that I stink 💀

DONT BUY TOMS ANYMORE

Went to reorder my usual and found that they have taken to this new modern hustle vibe and changed things. This new formula simply doesn't work anymore and in fact has caused my skin to peel and a rash to develop. Sorry to see them change for the worse.

Change is not always a good thing.

I've been a user of Tom's for longer than I can remember, and besides the bad redesign of the bottle I've always liked the deodorant. 

All of the deodorants are now listing wetness protection. That's antiperspirant, I can't use and don't want antiperspirant! I just want deodorant. The new formula doesn't stop odor as well as the old and it causes itching. 

After all these years I have to find a new product. So disappointing.

What happened to Tom's?

Totally Bummed!! I have used Tom's Unscented Deodorant for 10+ years. It has been amazing! I was happy to see the new packaging and larger size roll out recently. However, I tried it about 6 months ago and the new one must have something different in it. After using for a couple days I got a painful, irritated rash in both underarms. So I searched and searched and fortunately found some of the "old" deodorant and bought as much as I could. Now I have run out of that so I thought maybe it was something else that caused the rash. I tried the new one (in the green container) again. And again after a couple days the rash started up. I am very disappointed. Tom's has been the best for over a decade! But now I am afraid I will have to go to a different brand. Totally Bummed!

Why can't people just leave well enough alone. If the old deodorant works why change it. I used the unscented during hunting season for years and it worked great…. Now it sucks. Please revert back to the way y'all were making it in the past.

Original Formula

Beware. The active ingredient has changed from hops to caster and it is terrible at fighting odor.

I faithfully used the previous formula for years and could easily go 3 days without smelling. I tried the new formula and within about 8 hours I started to smell. The next day after showering I applied the new formula again and got smelly within just a few hours. Rinse and repeat and on the third day I smelled like a rotting animal.

Bad product at twice the price

I was an avid and loyal user of the original unscented deodorant. When it was time to buy a new batch of tubes (I bought several at a time) I noticed the packaging was different but did not expect the formula to change. To my surprise, this new product and formulation DOES NOT WORK. They changed the formula and it simply is ineffective. I am smelly after an hour or two. There are at least two ingredients that are different and omitted from the new formulation that render this product useless. I am so disappointed because I truly loved the original formula and cannot purchase this again. I hate that I bought two tubes because I have had to throw them in the trash.

New Formulation Does Not Work

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I think this product works just like it's described! It really does work well! No armpit stains or body odor! I will definitely recommend this product to my friends and family! I love the fact that this product is aluminum free!
