As a life long The Lord Of The Rings fan, I had to get this, it’s such a sick build, the in universe Barad Dur took 600 years to build, this one took me 2 days, I was really pleased that the eye is brick built not just one big printed piece, the detail of the tower has been recreated really well, especially being made out of LEGO, it’s a huge model, highly recommended.

Amazing build, a lot bigger in person. I love all the little mechanics like the door and Sauron's throne. It's crazy how low profile those are so that they don't impede the design or play room. The actual light brick pointing at the eye is a little lack luster but i understand thats the best we can get with the current light brick we have available. I love the new parts included in the set like the orc helmets and the 1x4 trans-orange plates. Overall a really nice looking set and a fun build!

I see you

I watched my boyfriend build this ive never seen someone so involved and so excited to build it.  There were no mizsing parts. But there were lots of extra legos left.  He bought lights to put inside and wow it looks amazing.  Its definitely as tall as it says. I do recommend this lego set even though the price is high!!

Great

Took me 3 days to build. Exactly what I wanted. Takes up quite a bit of shelf space vertically. Even though it has less pieces than Rivendell it feels bigger. Great value!

Purchased at $60 below normal cost.  One of my favorite builds.  At sales price, was more than worth it.  Looks great as display item.  Kee up the great deals.

Greatest set ever and awesome figures really big too this has nothing to do with the set but why Lego, why did release smart bricks. That's what disappointed me

AWSOME

Overall good build and nice looking however, with hundreds of studs left exposed on exterior surface it has an unfinished look to me. So I added teeth plates to top of the walls, smooth 1x4 and torches to the faces of the walls and smoothed out the bridge. Looks much better and more menacing. Also added LED light strip under the build on a simple custom cut base to light the lava. Turned out epic.

Good but needed help

I was quite excited to order one of these as a celebratory gift to myself. It took about 18 hours to complete the whole fortress but I couldn't help but notice that the quality control wasn't as good as I thought it should be for a set with such a high price. Admittedly, with 5,471 pieces there will be the odd blemish but each bag had pieces with scratches or nicks in them. I can wholeheartedly say that I've never seen that before with any other Lego sets I've purchased.

A great build, definitely worth it in the end. The largest build I have done yet. Allot of great details on the outside and inside of the tower. It was a little difficult but not because of the size but almost

As incredible as this set is, and it really is stunning, the one I received had lots of incorrectly coloured pieces. As such, I not only can't continue until I receive the correct pieces from Lego, which can take up to two weeks, but now I'm nervous about continuing because, after finding so many incorrectly coloured pieces, I'm worried I'm going to hit a road block and find more. I guess Lego have downsized their QA team, which is having a very noticeable impact on newer sets.

Hopefully this is just a one-off, as if I buy another large, expensive set like this and experience similar QA issues I'm going to be reluctant to buy more.

Additionally, going to post my review, I've noticed the ratings I selected, particularly the 'Build Experience' one keeps increasing from 2-stars to 4 before I submit the review. Really bad form, Lego.

Lots of wrong coloured pieces

Quality control on this set is WAY below the normal lego set. Extremely frustrating. First the sticker sheet was missing, so I ordered a replacement and that took forever to get here but there weren't stickers til late in the build so at least I could start it. But now bag 25 is also missing pieces again (1x6 plate and 2x2) and my bulk lego is in storage so I will have to stop and wait AGAIN.  The bag wasn't ripped it just didn't have the pieces. Very atypical for lego but very frustrating.
