He is just 4. He loves cars, trucks-it has wheels it's right up his alley.  His other love is dinosaurs this combination is perfection for him. Had a bit of trouble with construction as siblings were eager to help but it got built and was played with allot. He still loves it 2 months later.

I ordered this for my Great Grandson as a Christmas gift. He's about to be 3. He loves it but he can't seem to play with it as intended. There's a lever to slap down to launch the car around the track, if it's hit too hard the car flies off, if it isn't hit hard enough, it slides back down and bounces off the launcher. He gets a bit frustrated sometimes because when it leans forward he has a hard time putting it back up. He has found his own way to play with it, just not the way the directions say to use it.

Cool toy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is one of those toys that there's always something new to discover.  The eyes on the T-rex spin, as does the Hot Wheels sign on the center. It does take some pressure to launch the car since it's just a matter of hitting the blue lever.  For my child, it was really difficult to get the car to make it up the initial ramp, which frustrated him.  He did enjoy watching others launch the cars, though.  I would've liked there to have been a different mechanism that more reliability launched the cars. We couldn't figure out a pattern to what direction the cars would come out, which made it a little more fun than some of his other sets where it's just launch and relaunch over and over.

The car that comes with it has a sharp transparent red body with gold windows.  One of the things I appreciated about the sample car was that it gave us a chance to go through our box of Hot Wheels to see what other cars have similar bodies and so know what will maneuver best through the track. We had several cars like this one, so it gave us some choices during continuing play.

A word of caution: I made the mistake of letting my 4-year-old find this box before I had a chance to set it up.  The packaging is eye-catching, but the set-up is complex.  There are over a dozen steps.  It took me roughly 10-15 minutes to get it all put together and ensure it was working right.  However, the pieces snapped together pretty cleanly, and assembling it was generally intuitive.  

The size of the track set is perfect.  It's compact enough to fit on a side table and doesn't take much space on a shelf to store it, which meant we did not need to break it down like some other Hot Wheels track sets.  This would be the perfect gift for a child who is interested in Hot Wheels track sets but for a family who does not have a lot of space: think condo or apartment living.

Interactive, but Difficult to Launch Cars

I bought this for my son for Christmas. It would be great if the car could actually make it up the track. I can rarely even get it to work. The track is a little too steep for the car to make it up. It has worked a couple of times when I hit the button hard enough or my husband does, but my son can't do it. He still puts the cars on the top of the track himself and he enjoys it like that. I just wish he could use it as it is intended!

It is okay, probably for bigger, stronger kids.

Disappointed in this hot wheels track. You have to hit the trigger with just enough force to get the car to actually go up the track and stay on the track. Too little force and car won't go up but too much and car goes off the track. My 5 year old still likes it though and it was very easy to assemble. We have a different hot wheels track that is also has a launcher but it is a pull back trigger which  works sooooo much better than the pounce trigger on this set.

Launch mechanism is finicky. Disappointed

Bought for 5 yo grandson. It is flimsy and constantly falls apart while playing with also it's almost impossible to hit the thing hard enough to go around the track. Regret buying it

My grandson was really excited to try the Hot Wheels City T-Rex Blaze Battle Playset, and the idea of racing against a dinosaur sounded super fun. Unfortunately, the toy didn't work as well as I hoped.  The installation was typical of a hot wheels set and there were few pieces to put together. The design looked cool, and the dinosaur itself looks awesome — but in practice, the set isn't very sturdy.  The  problem is that the action features don't work like they should. After a few days of playing with the set the T-Rex has yet to “eat” a car and poop it out.  The trigger that's supposed to make the T-Rex “attack” the fire station often gets stuck, and when it does work it is difficult to reset it.
While the theme and dinosaur look are exciting, the unreliable mechanics make it hard to enjoy for long. I think Hot Wheels could improve this playset by fixing how the action features work.
Only buy if you are a big Hot Wheels fan and don't mind fixing after each action.

Doesn't work very well

The car starts at the bottom and you have to hit the button so hard that my husband couldn't even get it up the ramp half the time. No way my 2 year old son could get it to the top. Waste of money. Returning gift, sad it was one of his 2 Christmas gifts.

Piece of Trash

Doesn't function as intended. Very difficult for child to play and operate. You have to slam the lever to get the car to loop around and all models %26 shapes of hot wheels cars get stuck. I'm an adult and just having to use force to press the lever hurts my hand. Toy only ends up frustrating my kid.
