This toy is pretty cool but also gets old fast.  Once the turtles “hatch” from the eggs, nothing else new happens besides the big turtle swimming when it senses water.  The tiny turtles just hatch and are linked together and move in the wake of the big turtle.  The tank seems to be fairly miraculously mildew resistant since it’s supposed to hold water and let it stagnate. That’s a big plus since we’ve had ours for 5 months now and it still looks brand new and has been used, reused, accidentally evaporated completely, and there are no adverse effects aside from some easily cleanable water residue stains on the side of the tank. This is a very cool toy that all 3 of my little girls really liked, but is also one of those toys that they lost interest in after about 15 minutes.  That said, because it keeps itself so neat and clean, they consistently want to refill it and play with the turtles again and again, but each session mostly consists of refilling the tank and watching the turtle swim for about 3-4 minutes.  It is a very well-built and mildew resistant toy for what it is!

This toy is great in theory, but overall relatively boring. You fill the tank, the eggs hatch with tiny turtles and the mom kind of swims along. The mom stops swimming after a few minutes to save on the battery. We normally love the Pets Alive toys, but this is a miss. Stick with thebstuffed animal version!

While my granddaughters were excited to receive this as well as seeing it work, its a bit anticlimactic. It is a very cute idea but after this initial use, the "hatching" affect can not be duplicated. Another disappointment was the battery life of the momma turtle. with no way to turn her off, the battery ran out after the first day.

My daughter received this as a gift from a family member. If your kid is like mine and loves see life then this would be a cute gift that they can get that one quick surprise from. Other than that, it’s not something she will normally take out and play with.

Cute but not a favorite

water gets between the bottom of the plastic tank and the plastic sand inside the tank , its very hard to dry . i had to put it outside in the sun .... waste of water , the eggs only harch once and the tank isn't very big for the turtle to swim in so we ended up using them in the bathtub.  wouldn't buy again

I bought it for Christmas because my child wanted it, but as a parent I was a little disappointed because after the pets come “alive” and the eggs open and such there is nothing else for it to  do but sit around and take up space. Definitely a one time big use and maybe just play with it along with other toys now . The Mama turtle does still swim so could be used in the bath. But just kind of a waste for me

Babies hatch and the thrill is gone

My 5 year old loved it. I didn't. It is cheaply made, the box makes it seem like the turtles can “hatch” again and again but they don't. Messy and cheap for the price

The mommy turtle doesn’t even last long. The “sensors” on the bottom of it supposed to make it swim when it’s in water, but it swims even when’s it’s not in water, thus wasting battery. When we took a look at the batteries, the inside was wet. Honestly, it’s a waste of money. Definitely won’t be buying again.

Just stay away..

Only worked for a few minutes once it was opened.  The little turtles hatched, mama turle swam for a bout 1 min then she didn't swim anymore. Even if I took her out and let her exterior dry. I changed the batteries and the same thing happened. It swam for about 30 secs but only with one arm then quit. Very disappointing christmas gift for my 7 year old.

Wish I didn't buy

my daughter was super disappointed.  the eggs were messed up and opened as soon as i added water so they "hatched" before i sat it down so she could see. the mama turtle doesn't swim well, just floated kinda like a dead fish.  when i emptied the water out the mama turtle kept flapping her fins even hours after it was dried and randomly turns on.  it has driven me crazy.  i would not buy this item again or recommend it

This was a gift for my daughter and upon receiving it, she jumped and informed me that it was her favorite. We have not yet filled up with water due to the fact that the eggs take approximately 5 minutes to hatch. but the whole family is excited to watch.
