Shimano IX2000R Rear Drag is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great crappie reel Light but, works well for crappie. My 2nd one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from best spinner under $20 Pros: Easy, quick, one-handed casting and no need to even look at the reel between casts. Smooth spinning (smooth for the price range). Inexpensive but not cheap. Quickfire trigger comes off with a single screw if you don't like it. Cons: Anti-reverse only stops in one spot; great for quick casting, kind of annoying the rest of the time. Quickfire trigger will smash into your knuckles if you use an improper grip. I have this exact reel which was a gift in the early 90s. This new one lacks a couple of the old features which I liked such as the push-button spool removal. Overall, I have some small complaints but hands down, you can't get a better reel under $25. The IX2000 is my prefered all-around freshwater reel. Good performance but at a price point where I won't be upset if something happens to it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good reel for the money These are obviously not the best reels out there, but for the price and performance, they are definitely worth it. This reel has no ball bearings, but it will take you a long time to notice that fact. The reel is smooth out of the box. In time, say several years, it will begin to tighten up some due to not having ball bearings. It has a pretty good drag system, and is pretty responsive to changes. The Quickfire trigger system is ideal for teaching youngsters quickly and easily how to grab the line on this type of reel. And this reel is mainly for the younger set, who will primarily fish for smaller panfish and catfish. Probably repeated encounters with larger fish would shorten the life of the this reel, but for 2-3 pound bass and catfish, it should last a long time. I have previous versions of this reel, too, that my grand kids have used for 7-9 years, and they still perform almost as well as they did when new. Even though it is a "beginner's" reel, it does it's job, and you won't regret getting it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Avid user I have used this model spinning reel since the 80's for ultra lite bass and pan fishing in Florida. Glad to see g-kids get the same basic reel (x2000) still in production !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great reel You cannot beat this reel or the price. I have three now and they have never failed me. Casting is easy and it has distance. I have used it to reel in fish and it worked very well.
