I love this. I am a bit late to Blu Ray but this replacement for my Panasonic DVD player really hits the spot. I am impressed with ability to access the internet and various apps, still discovering the apps that I can get.  Love it that I can get You tube on my Samsung.

Small and great

Bought this a couple of weeks ago to complement my new Sony Bravia TV (which is excellent). The BDP-S1500 is a very small format bluray and dvd player with an equally compact remote control. Easy to connect via hdmi to my TV and then from the TV I go optically out to a Yamaha amp and speakers. I have re-watehed some of my older bluray and dvd and have been surprised how much detail (audio and video) I have been missing - Wolf Hall is a revelation in particular. There are SMARTs on the bluray and it will play from USB but I can do all of this from my TV anyway. This is a no-frills unit that performs with frills. Delighted with my purchase. Thanks Sony.

Tremendous value for money

Great quality player, superb quality easy to operate, once connected to Internet you get smart TV too, can't fault it recommend this player to anyone wanting to enter blue ray..

Cracking Blue Ray Player

I bought two of these to replace my previous BluRay players, which both mysteriously ceased to play BluRay discs at the same time. Compact and bijou, this player is excellent value for the price, and has so far performed flawlessly. The network and USB ports allow me to access my media libraries easily, and it even accesses my 3Tb USB drive, which my previous players would not, as they had a 2Tb limit. Playback from disc or media file is flawless, and 'net access is easy, with a reasonable range of apps available (although not, as yet, the BFI player), and a dedicated Netflix button on the remote.

The only small niggle I have is that there is no clock/play-time display on the fascia, but this can be easily accessed via the Info button on the remote, so not a deal breaker. The Info button also displays video/audio bitrates and other file info.

The player is very easy to set up, and updates firmware/software automatically on first start. All in all, a great value and compact player, which I have no qualms in recommending.

Great Value Player

This economical Blu-ray player is a great addition to my system. I had been holding out on a new disc player until my old player finally bit the dust. I should have replaced disc player when I bought my new TV. I had never had a Blu-ray before, but wow what a difference. This player even up scales regular DVD disc's to near Blu-ray quality

Wonderful, compact DVD player. It will shut off by itself and then will resume film when you restart it. Very sharp, clear picture on every movie. Great product.

Fantastic DVD Player

Plays blue ray and DVDs well. Remote is easy to lose but works well. It's a good Netflix and Hulu player as well. It would be great if there were more apps. Hoping for HBO Now.

Works great

I have really only used this to stream Amazon video, YouTube, and play video files from a USB hard drive. It works very well for all of these and the picture is excellent in all cases.

We love the Sony Blu-ray player with streaming. We've had no problems with the Blu-ray part of it. Sometimes when streaming we freeze up and cannot connect. We then have to unplug and restart. Other than that, no problems. :)

Good Player for a low price

I'm disappointed with this Blu-ray player. I had higher expectations for Sony. I chose this because I wanted to take advantage of Bravia sync as my TV and AV receiver are both Sony.

The thing that bugs me the most is during play back if you want to stop the disc or go to main menu, it doesn't remember the last part of the film. You have to find it via menu.

The remote is too small and not logical, very easy to press the wrong button.

Huge lack of apps and not enough space for favourite apps, poor.

Bad functionality regret buying it!
