Description & Features+

Stamina® 1215 Orbital Rower with Free Motion Arms Rowing is widely known to be one of the best all-around activities for cardiovascular fitness and strength. Rowing is a total body workout that is efficient, effective, low-impact and utilizes all major muscle groups including the back, legs, arms, abdominals and buttocks. It is one of the best exercises for building a strong back, as well as one of the most effective low-impact aerobic exercises for increasing your metabolism for more efficient calorie and fat burning without the impact on your joints. The Stamina® 1215 Rower has full range-of-motion rowing for a truer rowing motion that mimics rowing on the water with a padded seat that glides on a ball bearing roller system, rowing arms with adjustable resistance, and foam grips that keep hands stable and comfortable. The 1215 Orbital Rower is compact and portable, with a footprint of only 32.5 x 48 and weight of 52 pounds, yet is well-made for years of strength and aerobic training. The multifunctional fitness monitor keeps you motivated and on track to reach your fitness goals showing speed, distance, time, stroke count, and calories burned during your workout. The continuous, non-impact movement of rowing can be broken down into three phases: the starting point is called the catch phase, followed by the drive phase, the finish, and recovery. In the catch phase, knees are bent with shins vertical and shoulders and arms reaching forward. This phase mimics the point where the oars are being placed in the water. The drive phase is initiated by the legs. As they extend, arms remain straight until the knees are mostly extended, then the elbows flex bringing the oar handles into the upper stomach. In the finish, the legs are fully extended, shoulders are back, elbows are flexed, and the oar handle is against the upper stomach. For the recovery, the knees don't flex until after the hands pass over knees as the arms and shoulders reach forward to begin Catch Phase again. Because rowing is an impact-free activity, it can be a lifelong form of exercise. It is always best to exercise in your target heart rate zone (70% to 85% of your maximum heart rate).

Ratings & Reviews+

Stamina 1215 Orbital Rower with Free Motion Arms is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 87.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Showing signs of improvement This seems to be a well built, sturdy piece of equipment. I have only been using it for a week now. The easiest setting is very hard to pull, although it is getting a bit easier now. I could only get a 5 minute workout when I started and can now do a 15 minute workout before my arms weaken. I have tried using with the higher incline, but it is just to much on my legs right now. My legs tire before I can get an upper body workout. When I can do a 30 minute workout a few times, I will try raising the incline. This is my first rowing machine. I am 56 years old and feeling the pains of middle age. I'm hoping that this equipment will help me get a toned body over time. The only problem I had when putting it together were the mounting brackets for the left and right base frames. The instructions show no flat washers. The lock washers had no place to grip to, so I added my own flat washers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machine This product is easily assembled. Easy to adjust tension. Provides a great cardio workout. Works, arms, legs, back, and abdomen. I have a bad back and am limited on the exercise machines I can use, but this has been a wonderful machine for me. It is low- impact and it is helping strengthen core muscles so I am gaining some of my mobility back again. Glad I purchased this machine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for Price This rowing machine I have had and been using for about two and half months now. It worked great up until the rollers under the seat started to crack and the seat wobbled, which I had expected since I had read this in other reviews. I contacted the company by email and they sent me out new rollers that I had within probably about a week, so I wasn't without my machine for very long. I was very impressed with the response time of the customer service people. Then after about a month and half my meter went out also. The meter still works and comes on but the sensor wire that is inside the main metal bar of the unit quit working so the meter just stays at zero all the time and never registers any of your stats. This was also a problem I had read about in other reviews, so once again I have contacted the company about getting a replacement part for it and they responded quickly back that they would send out the whole metal bar unit to me as there was no way to just replace the sensor wire in this unit. Currently it has been a little over a week and I have yet to receive this part to be able to fix my machine. I am hoping this should be here within the next week or I will contact them again. This is a good unit for the price I paid for it, but the other reviews I had read were correct in that the rollers and the sensor wire/meter should have been made of a better quality as they do not last like they should. If you have the money and want something that will be hassle free I would suggest getting a more expensive unit that is built a little better. For the cost of this unit though I have been happy with the overall performance of it, just wish I wouldn't have to keep rebuilding it for stuff that is malfunctioning on it after this short of time of getting the unit. The customer service people though, so far, have been great in helping to resolve the issues though by sending out replacement parts with no hassle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from ROWING AWAY THE LBs A little harder than I thought to put together, but only took an hour. Just look at direction diagrams closely and there shouldn't be any problems. A ratchet will be faster than pliers or wrenches. I used a ratchet with a wrench together. As for the rower, it is awesome! It is smooth and quiet, and fits my 6 ft body very nicely. I am fairly fit already, and this rower is a challenge, yet it can be adjusted to accommodate a beginner. It does not fit under our queen sized bed, but folds up nicely and leans against the wall out of the way. At 52 lbs, my wife moves it around quite easily.
