Have not used for popcorn but as a coffee roaster this does a fantastic job.
Has the desired side vents but thermostat does need to be bypassed (at your own risk), which is a very simple matter.
Roast half a cup of green beans at a time (3 minutes is perfect for the roast I like), and allow popper to cool down between batches. This works fast so do not walk away when roasting your beans!

Review as a coffee roaster

Very pleased with this product. It is a very powerful little unit. We had a bowl of delicious fluffy popcorn in less then a minute! We had a few unpopped kernels come out of the machine into the bowl but from previous experience with other machines it is bound to happen. The machine worked very well and was so quick at popping the popcorn that the margarine had little time to melt. I would suggest the margarine be at room temperature first if it is to melt entirely during the popping process. Overall great product at a great price. Highly recommend!

Great little popcorn machine!

I filled the enclosed cup with kernels and popped them. Decided I wanted a little more to fill the bowl. The machine then shut off by itself, I'm guessing due to being hot. A few minutes later, it came back on so I thought, good now we can finish popping! No. Before the kernels could pop it shut off again. We tried this one more time before I just gave up.

Not worth your money

On first use all the popcorn that popped was burnt, the machine shut down numerous times to "cool off" and turns back on itself once it feels it's ready to pop 5 more kernels. For every one kernel, 6 fly out of the machine (not in the bowl). **Definitely would not recommend this**

Piece of junk!

We received this popcorn maker as a gift and were excited to try it. The machine worked well for the first couple of minutes, turning out fluffy popcorn. But soon after, the machine started smoking. We shut off the machine immediately, only to be left with blackened popcorn sitting at the bottom of the machine.

Burnt popcorn

Bought this item today and first time out of the box, the popcorn didn't seem to move out of the machine as it was popping. It was filling the machine,then smoke came out and a burning smell. Then the machine kept turning itself off and on. Now I tried half of the suggested amount of kernels and it seems to be working better, although some of them are still coming out burnt.

Bought today! Got it home to make some popcorn Didn't even pop a bowl of popcorn. Started to smell and it shut off .....what popcorn did cook burnt and the rest didn't even pop... I will be returning to the store..... I didn't even want to give it a star even if it read poor

Don't bother junk

I bought his popper a few days ago and it is horrible. I went to use it for the first time tonight and was so excited, but that sure didn't last long. I started off by putting in the suggested amount of kernels and it popped a tiny bit, then it started to smoke and turned itself off. The rest of the kernels got stuck in the popping chamber and burnt. Hubby felt bad for me and thought it was because I used generic brand popping kernels, so he went out and bought the good, popular brand name ones. I used a little less than the full measuring cup this time and the exact same thing happened. I am very disappointed. Will be returning it tomorrow and getting a better one. I realize it was only $20, but still.

Very disappointed

I bought this popcorn maker and used it twice before it broke and wouldn't turn back on. Just shut off during popping and never worked again. Would not recommend this product.

I am very disappointed in this product. I bought a sunbeam popper many years ago and I loved it. This product stops popping every few minutes. It took 1 1/2 hours to make enough popcorn for carmel popcorn, which is why I bought it. Not happy!
