I don't know why this isn't standard for everyone to have a base understanding of their genetics. I guess eventually we will get there but for now tellmegen is a small investment that can make a huge impact in your life and wellbeing. Very informative and comprehensive, much more information then the other ones and at reasonable price. Im still unpacking all the data but its certainly going to help me in life and make better health choices.

I bought this simply out of curiosity. I wasn't sure what to expect, and I was a little disappointed that my results weren't as interesting as I was expecting them to be. However, it seemed to consist of a very thorough list of conditions that it tests for, and my expectations don't lower the quality of the product. I was very excited about the ancestry part, though it isn't a major part. it gives you just enough to track your DNA to related locations and the percentage.

Great product at a great price

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this test to review possible mutations for a cheaper price than my doctor's office. Quick Warning: Not ALL test result features are available in the USA due to FDA law, but there is still a plethora of information. Raw data can also be downloaded if needed. Did not use the family connection feature, so I cannot give any input on that.

Good Test

I was under the impression the nutritional report and pharmaceutical compatibility was included with the advanced test. apparently not and each cost an additional $99. I'm glad I didnt spend full price to not be surprised of my European decent and that I may or may not have many genetic diseases.

misunderstanding or misinformed?

Ancestry details are worthless. General info that covers the origins of the European human race. I was hoping to learn when my ancestors immigrated to the US and which region of England they emigrated from before coming to the American colonies. Attached are pics of all the ancestry info they provided me.

Ancestry results are worthless

Finally after several weeks awaiting my results, I received my email telling me they were ready.  O opened my account and it showed my ancestry as..................... European.  Wow. I knew that from looking at the mirror since I was 5.  It doesn't get any more specific than that.  So if you want to know where your people are from, you can get it from the mirror and save plenty of money.

Not worth it.

I am furious that I took a lot of time figuring out the best kit for our needs and then researched prices. I chose this. This was a Christmas gift for someone who was only going to be up my way for that one day! Zero notification that it was going to be delayed and certainly no indication it would not arrive in time! I would have purchased elsewhere or bought one in stock around here even. Now all the friggin prices are up on all kits and i am furious!!!! NEVER GOT THE DAM KIT!!!

Absolutely ticked off!!!

I waited over 4 weeks for my results from TellmeGen and I was SO SO excited. This company has broken my heart. The Genetic Predisposition tab was interesting, until it said "slightly low risk" for diseases that I already have. The Inherited Monogenic Disease tab was utter crap. Not that I want any diseases, but I only had ONE variant present out of 97 different diseases, including saying the variant was ABSENT for Ehlers Danlos, which I am already diagnosed with. How is that possible? The most shocking, and honestly laughable, results were my Ancestry. I have used multiple Ancestry DNA sites, which have been 100% accurate, being that I am English, Irish, and Italian. Tellmegen is telling me that I am mostly European (ok fine), but also have percentages of Jewish, Arabic, Pakistani, and Egyptian. I am sorry, but it is just ridiculous. I feel like I was completely duped and really regret sending them my DNA and spending my hard earned money on this rubbish. Oh, and every single thing on the Trait list was WRONG, except that I have blue/green eyes. I tried speaking with someone via Chat, but they were unsympathetic, and told me it was impossible for DNA samples to get mixed up, and that they were "sorry this is your experience." Okay, great. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Do not waste your time. Go with other options.

I decided to get this for myself for Christmas. I purchased another name brand product for my dad as well. I was much more impressed with his report and database. He got 100 family hits on day one. I have none. Several of the health, personality, etc were just a joke. I tried to return it right after purchase after researching more and finding out the database was junk but they assured me it has a very large database and comparable to top names. Not at all. Don't waste your money.

Buy a different brand.

If I could give negative stars I would. While this is not the most expensive test out there it is most definitely the worst. Gave to my son as a birthday gift. Results just came back saying he was German and French. No percentages and no other nationalities which is completely  blowing since I know my own lineage as well as his fathers. His sister did a test from another company a year ago and hers was a multi page report. His was two lines. Ridiculous waste of money!
