Description & Features+

The last Beatles album to be recorded (although Let It Be was the last to be released), Abbey Road was a fitting swan song for the group, echoing some of the faux-conceptual forms of Sgt. Pepper, but featuring stronger compositions and more rock-oriented ensemble work. The group was still pushing forward in all facets of its art, whether devising some of the greatest harmonies to be heard on any rock record (especially on "Because"), constructing a medley of songs/vignettes that covered much of side two, adding subtle touches of Moog synthesizer, or crafting furious guitar-heavy rock ("The End," "I Want You (She's So Heavy)," "Come Together"). George Harrison also blossomed into a major songwriter, contributing the buoyant "Here Comes the Sun" and the supremely melodic ballad "Something," the latter of which became the first Harrison-penned Beatles hit. Whether Abbey Road is the Beatles' best work is debatable, but it's certainly the most immaculately produced (with the possible exception of Sgt. Pepper) and most tightly constructed. ~ Richie Unterberger, Rovi

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Remaster My husband was born in the 50's and has all the Beatle's vinyl. We have been slowly acquiring the CD's so that he can listen to his Fab Four again. The sound quality of the new Remastered CD's is just amazing. The Walmart price was great. Thanks Walmart!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is not only the best Beatles album but possibly the best album/CD in the history of rock 'n' roll. It starts strong with Come Together and doesn't allow you the chance to stop listening until the inevitable end. Two of Harrison's best are on this album: Here Comes The Sun which has some of the most beautiful acoustic guitar work in it, and Something which is one of the all-time best love songs. The trade-off guitar solos in The End are spectacular! Nobody could have done harmonies like this. I hate to use a cliche, but truly, they just don't write 'em like this anymore. Even the humorously light-hearted Octopus' Garden is a great and catchy song. What makes this even more unbelieveable is that the Beatles weren't even getting along very well with each other by the time they made this. Yet it's a musical masterpiece, even better than Sgt. Peppers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from remastered mix for a classic I have listened to this album for 30 years. Sounds better than ever. Documentary shows that Lennon did play on several tracks while recovering from a car crash.
