Ratings & Reviews+

TP-Link AC3150 Wireless MU-MIMO Gigabit Router is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth the price- no dd-wrt support and many is I purchased this router from another retailer but I thought I would comment on here so that people know the truth about this product. The first unit I received was defective so they sent me a new one. The new works but has several issues. What i like about the router is that the wifi signals travel far because its 4x4 antenna, however the signal tends to disconnect from time to time. Also, the router doesn't have an option to operate in bridge mode like the Apple Airport Extreme. When I enable IPV6 on the router it seems to slow the overall connection, also if you decide to use ipv6 via tunnel they don't allow you to add your own DNS server and so you are forced to use google ipv6 dns which is much slower than open dns ipv6. The last straw for me was the inability to be able to install DD-WRT; I currently have DD-wrt installed on a c1900 model of TP-link and it works better than the stock firmware. I hope TP-Link can work with DD-wrt in the future so that better firmware can be released. Until then I've reverted back to using C1900 with DD-wrt as my router and my Apple Airport Extreme in wifi bridge mode.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this router! The only thing I don't like is only 32 MAC addresses can be added for MAC filtering.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The router upgrade I had hoped for This is replacing my old router (a competitor)that I have had for more than 4 years. I have been happy with the that router but it has been dragging when it comes to actual routing. Seemed to be dropping connections (even if just momentarily) and browsing shared files between computers and devices on the network just seemed to be getting more and more buggy with each passing week. So I figured I might as well future proof. At some point I plan on using the 5ghz AC band to wirelessly bridge the router upstairs with the server downstairs. Right now I have a Cat 5e cable running through some duct work. I had used 5Ghz N for home media serving before with good success but the bandwidth limitation just made it less than 100% smooth. Reviews seem to give a real world benefit of 2x to 3x better performance from AC so as soon as prices have come down on AC equipment I would recommend doing that. The range is simply awesome. I haven't found a weak spot, yet. Simple networking across cable or wireless is definitely snappier. With any PC using a wired connection, accessing shared files is like I am accessing a local drive. My old router did a fine job with transfer speeds, maxing out all but my 2TB Seagate 7200 drives and the Archer C3150 is exceptional. I don't have any SSDs, so I don't really have the capability of maxing the gigabit connection but the speeds are running. I will temporarily move my USB 3.0 external that usually transfers about 120MB/sec to my tower PC and copy some files over to my server. That should give me a pretty good test. Setup was done in about 30 minutes through an app. It can be adjusted for guest access which I'd imagine would be convenient when we have visitors over for the holidays. Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best gets better with v2 Submitted as part of a free sample program AC3150 v2 gets better than its predecessor with a few things but in general brings all the good features of the Archer line of router products. 1) The wifi signal quality is slightly better than v1. I would say it probably covers a few 100 sq ft of additional space. 2) The bandwidth supported by the ac3150 is slightly better as well 3) The AC3150 v2 is equipped with 4 Ethernet ports, 1 USB 2.0 port and 1 USB 3.0 port. The intranet file transfer bandwidth with USB 3.0 is very impressive. 5) FTP transfer rate for ac3150 was 2x that of ac1200. Clearly much better speeds.. 6) The AC3150 v2 is available at almost the same price as a v1. So all the improvements are at no additional cost. 7) For what its worth, the v2 also comes with a more snazzy packaging. 8) Don't forget that some of the cool features like setting up your own VPN, authenticated HTTP/FTP access of local drive over the internet and parental controls are all still available sa well. 9) I have 2 TV boxes, 6 smart phones, 1 tablet, 3 note books and 1 printer all accessing data on and off through the day. I don't think my home is very different from common households and for these use cases, the Archer 3150 v2 is a very relevant router with impressive performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Dual-Band Router The router is easy to set up and use. It comes with 4 antennas that allow for great coverage throughout the entire house. It is also a dual band router letting you run multiple devices together, without slowing down speeds. It has beam forming technology which provide better coverage for devices. You can download the free tether app from your phones app store and use it to control the router, see who is on it, parental controls and even VPN. Submitted as part of a free sample program

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have not had to reboot this one!! It's rock solid! really have used quite a few of routers this makes it very easy to compare models. This is the best -bar none router to date I have tested. Fast, no lag for gaming, steaming, video and voice chat. We have 2 Xbox ones and play video games constantly, while others in my family are streaming movies and youtube videos all at the same time. Setup was a snap like all TP-Link products now with the app to set them up. I really can say without question this is by far the easiest and best router I have ever tested to date. With its 4 antennas its reaching everywhere in my whole house, 3 level split. The way TP-Link keeps the web interface consistent is a great testament to the quality and build of their products. I really want everyone to know a lot of people post reviews that may be just not true or accurate, I have tested multiple routers and this particular one has been the best.
