Though I do not anything about routers. The tips-link 1750 was recommended to me as a good one to get. After reading about it I realized I was buying an updated version at a great price. Also read that the set up would be easy I figured I could do it myself. Yep, even I could do it. Getting this sure beats renting one from a provider- so cost effective. And having an updated router sure made my internet faster.

The performance of this router is outstanding, it can easy handle 3 phones 2 TVs and high demand gaming connections at the same time. I believe it can handle more than that as well. With how good this router is there is no reason to buy the $200  ones unless you have huge amounts of people on.

Easy setup for even those who arent tech savvy comes with great direction and quick setup.

Best All around router

I have Century Link with PPPoE over my phone line. Century Link won't tell you that this TP-Link C 9 router will work on their system, but it does. It's not on their "Supported" list. Since I thought all the other routers on Century Link's "supported" list were inferior products, I bought the C 9.  I also needed to buy a Netgear modem that supports PPPoE, but this router works great together with the modem.

The only installation issue I had was that the Netgear installation tool didn't auto start. I had to type the IP address in manually before it started.  The TP-Link map showed me the IP address to type. Works great and runs fast.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First off, I am a computer guy for 40 years, so I will try and keep
this review in layman terms. This is a great buy for the home or
office. Just because it offers 1.3gigabits per second over the AC
5Ghz bands, does not mean you are going to get that speed.
First off, check what kind of wireless chip is in your device.
Many wireless devices such as smartphones support 1 gigabit speed,
but some older phones and tablets do not. As for using this router
as a wired CAT5 cable connection, you have 4 ports to select from.
If your PC has a 1gigabit Network Interface Port, then you will get
gigabit speed between PC and router.

The stylish TP-Link Archer C9 AC1900 has a modern sleek white case,
built-in sliver stand, icon-like blue lights on front and 3 detachable dual
band antennas which provide maximum coverage, reliability and stability
thru-out your home and/or office. You can replace the antennas with
a higher signal gain antennas, but for my usage the out of the box
antennas work fine. Please note, this device cannot be mounted on the wall.

The TP-Link Archer C9 is a AC 1900 router which will get you theoretically
1.3gigabits per second over the AC 5Ghz bands in 2.4Ghz speeds at around
600 megabits per second, so not bad compared with other devices in it's class.
The 5Ghz signal has less range, but it has another feature, called beam-forming,
that gets around the range problem. To put it in layman terms, it enables this
wireless router to locate connected devices and direct wireless signals to
that device. It focuses its signals in that direction, where by amplifying
the signal strength. It uses directional communications allowing you to point
one or more of your 3 Antennas at the WiFi device or devices you are using to
get a stronger signal. Where as standard routers use omni-directional which
basically forms a signal circle around the router. This Archer C9 has four
1gig network ports, 3 directional antennas, one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0.

I really like the TP-Link products, I use the TP-Link TL-WA850RE N300
Universal WiFi Wall Plug Range Extender in my home to get a stronger
signal in my backyard and use their other products at work. Their product
quality is really good and their product pricing not to be all that expensive.
I have used their tech support and warranty services before and they are
very responsive.

Key features I like, the on/off switch on the back, the simple setup and the
advanced setup I can really tweak it for performance. The parental controls,
you can set for specific times it can be used, which my grandkids are playing
games against each other and surfing the internet. So I can shut them down by
setting the time of day usage. It has a Wifi hot switch with the flick of a switch,
I turn off the Wifi. As mentioned it has 2 USB ports,. I use the USB 3 which is
performing 10 times faster than USB 2. I connect a USB 3 Western Digital
Passport hard disk for Network Access Storage. I also use printers and scanners
connected to the USB 2 port. The Warranty is 2 years limited warranty.

Great Gigabit Wireless Router!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The package was shipped out just before Memorial day. It arrived 11 days later. My stuff usually arrives in 4-5 days unless it's from overseas. For some reason it sat at my town's local UPS for 4 days before it was "out for delivery". My heart sank as the UPS box was severely smashed & torn up. It looked like it was through a war zone. I felt a little relieved as I saw the factory box in side the UPS box only had a few minor dents in the corners. Inside the factory box, it was well padded, & the router looked undamaged.

It comes with a mini CD which basically is just instructions that are in the paper manual too. There appears to be some software on it to run wireless printers but I didn't need it. An Ethernet cord is included. It looks about 3 feet long, but I didn't measure it. So many products these days don't include extra wiring that may be needed to use the product. The power cord of the AC adapter was much longer than average. Handy with so many outlets taken up by computers, chargers, & monitors.

Got it all hooked up, & nothing. No lights even. I check the power adapter with a meter, & it does have power. I flick the power button & other buttons a few times with no results. I switch it to the off position & refer back to the instructions to see what I missed. Suddenly just sitting there, the lights come on.

It turns out the power switch is backwards. Flipping it up, to turn it on, clearly marked as the "on" position is really off. You have to flip the switch down where the symbol shows "off" to turn it on. Chinese set a lot of their stuff in reverse. Flicking the switch back & forth didn't work because during the initial boot up, it takes several seconds for it to boot up, & the lights to come on.

Setting it up with just the recommended default settings worked without a hitch. My Samsung smart phone immediately recognized it & was able to connect. My old Aspire 3000 Laptop recognized it but would not connect. I clicked on Window 7's "fix this problem." Whatever it did, it fixed it, & connected to it.

It has 2 USB ports to connect other devices, printers, & drives to. But no matter what I tried, or what I plugged into them, I could not see them on them on the network. The USB port did charge my phone though. Although I could see my other computers & the phone on the wireless network I could not access them from another device. It kept saying I had the wrong name or password, even though at this point, for setting it up, I was using the default username password, with router & computers. They worked to get on the internet with the wifi, but no matter what I tried I couldn't interconnect between devices wirelessly.

I did't really want wireless access to other machines in the network, but did want to see if it worked. I read reports on their other model that it would forget the device logins. There's workaround, but I didn't bother with that right now. I just wanted wireless. Although I have hooked up wifi for family & friends, I was not wireless at home until now. My DSL access was through Ethernet wiring connected directly to the computers.

It was nice to get online without a Ethernet wire on the laptop, & get wifi on the phone in my home (data plans are too expensive). I checked my email & Facebook this morning while sitting in the bathroom for the first time in years. It comes with 4 Ethernet outputs too, if you want some things still securely hardwired into the internet. So my primary PC is still hard wired into it. I can shut off the wifi & still get on the internet through my primary PC.

I easily changed the default username & passwords to ones of my own choosing for security without a problem.

My home office, primary PC, & DSL connection is in my bedroom. So that's were I set up the wifi unit. Although it's a pretty unit, I placed it behind my 32" LED monitor/TV for convenience & keep it out of my way.

I live in an old mansion converted to 16 apartments. So it's full of other people's wifi, other electrical interference, & obstructions. I was able to pick up a full steady 5 out of 5 bars signal through my whole apartment at full speed. I live in the back of the building upstairs. I went to the front front porch of this huge place almost 1/4 block away & was still able to pick up my wifi at 2 out of 5 bars signal strength. That's through 2 floors & several apartments. On the porch my speed tests were between 7mb to 8mbs, which is the maximum speed of my DSL connection. I watched Netflix smoothly right from the porch to test it.

The unit is designed to stand upright with a solid metal stand that does not appear to be removable or adjustable. It's little top heavy, so can be easily knocked over if not kept out of the way. The vent holes in the back should not be blocked, so can't be laid down flat or it will probably overheat. The 3 small antennas are adjustable to fold down or swivel in any direction, but I got good signal anywhere on the property so didn't bother to play with them.

In the pictures, I show the un-boxing. My home office, primary PC, & DSL connection are in my bedroom. So setup was done on the bed. I have 2 cats that constantly play on the bed, & between the blankets. So by the time of the un-boxing it was all messed up again. Un-boxing is exciting to them because they love the boxes to play in.

Powerfull WiFi

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm not a tech savvy person, but I do know we were having wifi signal problems in our apartment, the router was set up in the living room and the signal was sporadic back in the bedrooms where we use Netflix and Hulu the most. They would spend forever buffering or loading. So, along came TP-LINK Archer C9 AC1900 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router. At first my husband was going to use it as a piggy back to our main router to help with the signal. No need to. This router handles the whole job all on its own. It was easy to set up, we have a PC, Laptop, 2 smartphones and 2 tablets hooked up to it. The bedrooms play Netflix and Hulu flawlessly. No more waiting for it to load. No more buffering. No more interruptions. Wifi signal in the back of our apartment is at full strength. I checked around on the internet and this router is pretty pricey elsewhere, but a good price at Walmart. I would highly recommend the purchase of the TP-LINK Archer C9 AC1900 router to anyone who relies heavily on wifi, be it for PC, smartphones, tablets or just for streaming your favorite shows. I am completely impressed with it.

Great way to boost your Wifi signal

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Hi folks, I finally had the time to set this new router up and test it out. I can now utilize my Wi Fi anywhere in my yard instead of just right close to my bedroom where I have my equipment set up. I used to get a very weak signal whenever I was outdoors doing anything and my phone was switching over to the 4G data signal and using up all my data time! Not anymore, this new router really puts out the power and I can still get a good signal all the way up my driveway by the mailbox. If I was a good neighbor, I'd let them access it as well, but since my neighbors are kind of fussy, I put a password on the signal so they couldn't! Anyway, if you need a boost on your wireless signal at your home or even your office, this device will fix you right up. I just hope it lasts a long time.

Wonderful device!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Okay, I realize that everyone's definition of "easy to set up" comes from a different place. For me, I've worked around computers for over 25 years now, so pretty comfortable, BUT - I am more comfortable with software than hardware. So although this should not have been intimidating, it was a little bit. I formerly was using a Linksys router on our home network. It did a fine job, and was very easy to maintain. However, it didn't give much of a boost to the downstairs connections. The computer was always slow, and would drop the connection from time to time, and require a reboot to get the connection back.

This router is truly great looking. It is white, sleek and has nice blue lights. It sits vertically, rather than horizontally like my old one. I wasn't sure I'd like it, but I do. It comes with three screw-on antennas that can be pointed in any direction to boost your signal in that direction. The metal frame is very sturdy and would take a LOT of pressure to bend. I currently have mine on a separate little shelf because my current desk is too small.

There is only a quick set-up sheet included with this item. Ironically, if you need help, it tells you to go to the company's WEBSITE! Ha! So, if you can't get it to work, go ahead and get online. Yeah, No. But, if you are willing to disconnect and reset up a single-user home network using your old router, it could work! The sheet does give you very plain graphic instructions that tells you which item to plug in where, which many will find very helpful It came with a very short ethernet cord, so you either need to keep the router close to you or buy a longer cord. (The one I had was just purchased last year and was six feet long, so I was in good shape.)

Now, I couldn't get it to connect right away. The short troubleshooter on the insert says to reboot your modem, then to reboot the router. I did. Several times. The computer refused to acknowledge the new router! I was ready to just reconnect my Linksys when I decided to go against all logic and swap the ethernet and modem cords. For many years, computers and peripherals have been fairly color-coded to make it easier for non-tekkies to hook things up. In this case for the TP Link, the ethernet ports (there are four) are yellow and the modem port is blue. I even had previously bought color-coded wires so I didn't accidentally pull the wrong one. After 45 minutes of not being able to connect, I take another look at the back. Everything is in the right spot. But, since I wasn't connecting anyway, I decided to swap out the modem cord and ethernet cord, plugging yellow into the blue slot and the blue cord into the yellow slot. Totally backwards. As you might guess, it took off immediately! So apparently, our unit was either labeled backwards or connected backwards on the inside. Seriously strange. But as long as it works, I don't much care.

The default setting of this router is PUBLIC, so be sure to change your settings to PRIVATE NETWORK, if you don't want everyone in the neighborhood to try and tap into your network. Yes, they would need your password, but there are a lot of smart hackers out there, so you just never know. Better safe than sorry. There are default settings for the account name, network name (your SSID) and passwords, so you will need to change those as soon as you can. (If you forget to write them down, there is a reset button on the back to rol it back to the default passwords.) I also had to change the other settings to WPA2 for our area for the home network. No big deal, just different from before.

The TP Link C9 runs two parallel bands - 2.4Ghz, which is what most home routers use for regular internet access and browsing, and a 5.0 Ghz band, which is for streaming videos and movies. The nice thing about this router, is that if you name BOTH the 2.4 and the 5.0 the same name, it will AUTOMATICALLY switches to the strongest network for your use. I love that! The on/off switch is on the back of the router, so it won't easily get bumped. While my photos show the antennas straight up (we haven't had to move any of them to get a better reception), they rotate and bend towards whatever area you might need a little boost.

Has our reception improved? Yes! The downstairs computer now cruises like it was directly connected to a wired access point. The kids can watch movies and I can browse the net without anyone slowing down. The reception range is fabulous - we live in a multi-unit building, and could probably provide internet connection to all four units. It offers connection speeds of 1.3Gbps over the clearer 5GHz bandwidth and 600Mbps on the 2.4GHz bandwidth. We have not yet found a dead spot in our place - even outside picks up the signal.

In addition to the fabulous signal and great connection speeds, this router can also handle your USB 2.0 and 3.0 devices. There are ports on the side of the router, so you can easily transfer files, photos or data from an external drive to your own computer, or even hook up your printer to print wirelessly. (I haven't tried that yet, but the possibilities are there.)

It also offers a "tether" function for your smartphones. I have not used that, and won't be using that, but it would be great for parents who want to monitor network access/usage from work for their older kids. It is nice to know that option is there.

I am so very pleased with this router! I probably would not have looked at this brand, since I tend to stick with the equipment companies I've had previous success with, but I cannot state enough that this would be an asset to anyone's home network setup.

The product only worked for 2 days before it went bad. When I called customer service, they were very painful to work with and after 2 hours on the phone they finally believed that the product is defective. They then started a process to send me a replacement but they told me it will take 2 weeks before I get the new one.

TP Link Customer service sucks
