Ratings & Reviews+

Ultra Downy® Free & Gentle™ Liquid Fabric Conditioner is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 67.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for the elderly with arthritis I love this product, but often I am unable to open the lid when my arthritis is bothering me. If this design flaw is not corrected, I will have to find a different product. Because no matter how much I like it ... If I can't open to top, I can not use it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Used to be a good product! You've changed the formula and thinned it down to the point that it's no longer worth buying. It does not control static cling any more and hardly softens the clothes. Bring back the thicker (not watered down) formula.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this product! I have suffered from psoriasis for about eight years and I cannot use heavily scented detergents or softners due to skin sensitivity. I had accepted the fact that I could not use fabric softener anymore until I came across Downy Free and Clear! Wow! Finally a fabric softener I can use that makes my clothes extremely soft without the dyes and perfumes. I will definitely continue to purchase this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Downey STAINS MY WHITES I prefer to use the liquid fabric softener to the sheets, but I am experiencing the liquid turning everything blue. Is the Free and gentle clear and how does it react to dark colors?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from way too thick I am not sure if it's the bottles I bought, but the product was not like liquid at all. It was this big goopy mess. I tried to put it in my HE washer and it barely left the drawer after the load ran. I thought maybe the first bottle I bought just went bad (can fabric softener do that?). Nope my second bottle was just as bad. After fighting with it for a bit, I finally decided just to pour it down the drain, which took forever you might imagine. I wanted to recycle the bottle. I wish I could post pictures to show the goopy mess. Frustrated as I really like Downy products and it was a huge waste of money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Water in a white bottle First, the reason I buy the free and gentle is not because I don't like more freshness in my fabric "conditioner", it's because every last Downy scent IS AWFUL! Before Downy was switched to it's inferior formulas , I always considered liquid fabric softener to be a necessary laundry component. Upon having to choose something that doesn't actually smell horrible, free and gentle isn't even removing static cling from my laundry. Not really sure the softness factor is there either.
