I found the CHB-R2101 Recumbent Exercise Bike easy to assemble,and priced surprisingly lower than I expected to pay. I use a pillow on the back support to help me sit straighter. Great for the person who does NOT want to exercise, and looking for an easy way to keep in shape.

I purchased this particular item and have absolutely no problems at all with price, product, shipping time was great...about an hour assembly...the only thing that did'nt come with it is youth & stamina...lol...but seriously, a very fine product & service from walmarts

It's not difficult to set it up. The bike is very sturdy, with a strongly fixed seat (unlike my previous one with a shaky seat). Runing very smoothly and quietly. No comments about the durability, since only used for 2 weeks. The only complain is the small display, hard to be seen when riding. But considering the low price, this excise bike is excellent.

Very good excise bike at the price

I found this difficult to assemble and requires two people.  The computer batteries go dead in a few hours and you can't contact anyone for warranty help. Not by phone or email, no response. Very heavy and hard to move around.  Function of the bike so far is ok. I would not buy this again.

hard to assemble

I would have given this bike 5 stars, because I doubt that you'll find a better one for the money, AND with free shipping. (It was listed on Amazon for less, but I think there was an additional book purchase required in order to get it for the $111.00 advertised price. 

That said, the main problem, other than taking about a half  hour to get it unpacked, lies in the assembly instructions. For one, and this isn't really a fault, be sure to read the ENTIRE instruction booklet before you even begin assembly. Example : The threads on the left hand pedal nut are left-handed and might leave you looking a little silly if you don't read that in the booklet. It's not indicated on the assembly plan.

It states that it requires 2 people to assemble the bike. I'm sure it will go together a bit quicker if there is someone to hold some of the parts in place, but it isn't required.

Page 7 is the main assembly page, and there are no written instructions. There are 5 illustrated diagrams indicating where each part # is to be attached. The diagrams are quite small and must be examined very carefully. 

It seems that the main problem has to do with attaching the square plate (about 4" square) on top of the rear main frame (part #3) to the top of the backrest support bracket (part #1). Most people use all 4 cap nut M8 (part#71) when bolting the two pieces together, only to discover that they are missing two M8 cap nuts later on in the assembly. The cap nuts should only be used on THE REAR HOLES and not on the forward holes. The two front holes are threaded and the bolts (M8x15 part #23) just screw in and tighten down. Those two forward bolts protrude UNDER the seat and don't present any risk of injury from exposed bolt-ends, so they felt that cap nuts wouldn't be necessary. It kind of indicates this in the diagram, but it's soo easy to miss. There should be some side note or something. 

None of the Electrical hook-ups are color-coded, but no big deal. Each 
connection has only one mate, so you just have to use trial and error. Color-coded connections would be much quicker. 

The attachment of the Tension Cable L=600mm (pt. #40) to the Extension Sensor Wire L=350mm (pt. #64) is not explained at all. You just have to play around with it for a bit, and it 'feels' right, tuck everything in and insert the bolts. If those two parts are not correctly attached, the tension adjustment knob will not work, so test it out before you tighten those four bolts down.

The monitor is quite difficult to read in average room lighting and should be back-lit.
I know this seems like a lot of criticism for a four star rating, but I'm just picking nits to try and help make your assembly a little easier. Take your time, and if something seems to not be fitting quite right, you're probably doing something wrong. Nothing should have to be forced. For the money, It's a very good recumbent exercise bike. Can handle 250 lbs. and then some. Heights from under five feet to well over six feet.

Don't try to peddle around the world in one shot. Build up distances and tensions gradually and ENJOY! -  Dan

A few head-scratchers

My 83-year-old father, who no longer is able to go outside daily to walk, purchased this bike.
He uses it 2x a day for about 12 mins each time and says it's helping him and he likes the bike. He absolutely wanted a RECUMBENT bicycle like this one.
He likes the step-through feature to easily get on and off the seat;  being able to adjust the seat for his leg length; the adjustable tension; and the digital readout so that he can time himself.
BUT, my daughter and I are the ones who put bike together.
1. It does take two people for portions of the assembly.
2. A magnifying glass does help to clearly see the assembly diagrams.
3. The tools provided seemed perfectly adequate
4. All small parts were shrink-wrapped onto cardboard backing, and all parts were present for the assembly. Parts are numbered and cross-referenced on a numerical list.
5. The "wires" people comment about being very difficult to connect are for the TENSIONING CONTROL, not the digital display (those are very easily clicked together).
6. TENSION CONTROL: this is the CABLE that needs two people to connect.  It has 2 connections to make: one hard and one even harder. If you don't get it connected correctly, the tension control WILL NOT work properly--you get only one tension the whole time.
7. Use a magnifying glass and carefully study the diagram to get it right. 
(we learned the hard way when the tension was impossible to adjust and we realized we had assembled the tension cable improperly--had to diassemble the front post of the bike and undo the cable --hard to do because it was wrong and didn't want to come apart).
8. TIGHTEN every nut, bolt, and cap with the tools provided. Hand tightening will not get them tight enough, which can lead to wobbling of the front peddle housing. Retighten all of them again each month.
9. Don't understand the reported battery problems. Be sure your batteries are top quality and brand new. The digital display goes off automatically a short while after the rider has gotten off of the seat. Display doesn't seem to go off if the rider remains seated.

Works Great, IF you put it together correctly!

Great and quick delivery by Walmart. Arrived sooner than expected. But the product is great but for smaller people. Front handle bars are too short so holding onto them has my knees bump my arms. The pulse detector on the rear handle bars is a nifty surprise. Computer works fine. Another great thing about the Velocity bike is it came with all the tools needed. The manual said to have a wrench, a hammer, and a Philips screwdriver but the product came with all of it. The hammer was never needed. Assembly went smooth. Thus biggest plus is the value for what you get. Biggest minuses is that its for smaller people and the strongest resistance on the pedals is not that strong. Perfect for a smaller person but overall, worth the price. You get what you pay for.

Velocity has its pros and cons.

This is what I was wanting from a exercise bike. It is a little low to the ground but that's ok because I am short. There is a bit of a problem for some people who are way over weight. The handle bars would prevent vary heavy people from sitting properly in the chair. Other then that I love this machine.

Home work out

I wish we had known how bad the assembly instructions were.  Nothing written down, just a very small picture with numbers.  We had to look at the parts list to see what we were supposed to put where.  We got it together, but we still aren't sure about why the console isn't working.  We went to the website, but it was no help.  The bike works fine and seems to be very well built.  We just don't know how fast it's going or for how long.

Difficult assemble instructions

First, the assembly was very tedeus, so were the instructions!
Than had to take apart the front to work on the tension. After a few days I started having problems with the comfort of the seat :(.
Also thought the monitor was confusing, not lit up and had my eyes had to dance around the arrow showing the different functions, had trouble keeping up with it. Wish it had a track.
Nice size for short people. My husband started using it, so that's a miricale in itself ;)
Overall I wish I had saved for one with better quality!

It's ok

Right out of box pulse meter function does not work. Called manufacturer and got recorded message that they are busy with other customers leave a message and someone will call back within 24 hours. 30 plus hours later no call back. Also emailed as recording stated a quicker response will happen if you email. 30 plus hours no reply. No matter how many times or different hours you call same recording, with the one exception being the time the recording said mail box full and disconnects you. Hopefully Walmart will discontinue buying anything from this company!

Don't expect the electronics to work!
