Rated 3 out of 5 by from Its OK This is a easy to use thermometer but very poor quality.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for kids. I bought this because of 8 second read. For younger kids it's not good. It won't get a proper reading because once it hits 8 seconds it stops. Forget underarm reading it never goes above 98 in 8 seconds when my son clearly has a temp of 102. Regular cheap one works underarm because it waits longer. Mouth also reads too fasts for a kid that won't keep mouth closed at first. Probably would work great as a rectal thermometer only. Can't believe I wasted my money on this.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not dependable We have purchased a couple of these due to the fast readings, but the first one died after a couple uses...not able to locate the battery needed for replacement unless you purchase online and that costs the same if not more than the product itself! So we bought the second great, then all of a sudden it won't turn on...just a couple uses again! Would not suggest this product unless you plan to buy one each time you need one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of Money! DOA What an absolutely terrible product. The unit did not work right out of the box, all I got was a slight beep and the screen did not even turn on. A total waste of my time buying this and now I have to make a trip back to return it and get my $20 back! Looks like I am not the first to have this issue.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 2 DOA Units from different sources? Ordered one of these online to replace an old Reli-On disposable digital thermometer. The appeal of this was the size of the display and the replaceable battery. While the thermometer arrived in timely fashion, it simply wouldn't work. Either the battery was near death or the unit was just bad. Returned the unit to the local store in exchange for an identical unit. Opened it at the customer service counter and - lo and behold - this one was also dead out-of-the-box. Either I had amazingly terrible luck OR the way the manufacturer installs the batteries prior to packaging and shipping causes them to drain while simply sitting unused. A note about the battery, as well: It uses a CR1225 battery which is difficult to find outside of specialty shops or online stores. In fact, buying the batteries for it ends up being as expensive as the unit itself. Exchanged the unit again for a basic, $3 Reli-On digital thermometer that worked just fine out of the box (and the new Reli-On thermometers also have a user serviceable battery compartment).
