I had my doubts about this projector after researching. Most all of the problems reported in early reviews stemmed from early firmware and has since been corrected.
I think all my fears were put to rest once this projector arrived.
I compared mainly to the Optoma HD20. I have used an Optoma HD66 in the past and had very good results with 720P. But, I wanted to move to a 1080P for my basement project.
I mounted the projector in a basement with a 7' ceiling. The lens has a throw angle offset of 33%. Meaning I had to angle the projector up a little for the correct offset.
This was quickly corrected with a keystone adjustment. I have a 48" x 96" screen that I am using about 12'6" away. With the adjustable zoom, I can fill the 48" vertically and about 90" horizontally.
The picture is very bright and crisp. Especially with great 1080P input. Black levels are very acceptable and I do not see any rainbow effects. I am running in ECO mode and the projector is acceptably quiet. I purchased an extended warranty on top of the great warranty Viewsonic offers. (3 years projector/ 1 year bulb).
I am using satellite, Xbox 360 and Blu-Ray as inputs and ALL look fantastic.

Understand that my review is based on using this projector for meetings and not for movies. It works excellent. The display is very bright, meaning we don't have to dim the lights to display our speakers during our meetings. It is easy to hook up, the menu is very intuitive and easy to use.

For the money this is a great projector. It has all the bells and whistles that one would expect on a more expensive unit.

Unbelievable what the difference is between the HD and our old non HD projector. Very good quality so far for the price which is far better than $3000. to $10,000. that you seen for some home theaters.

So far my only complaint is that it did not come with an instruction manual.

I did lots of research before I bought an HD projector. This particular brand and model had several good reviews and I was convinced it was going to be the right one for me. I bought two projectors, one Optoma HD66 and the VS Pro. The VSP was much too complicated to set up and the picture was not nearly as dark nor as clear as the Optoma. The price difference was more than $300. I returned the VSP and ended up with two Optoma HD66.

Not worth the price
