Ratings & Reviews+

Vivitar ViviCam XX128 Point & Shoot Digital Camera is rated 2.4 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost a great buy! I say almost because of one flaw. The included CD DOES NOT have an owners manual, as stated. It has practically nothing on it. It lists a bunch of cameras, but not the XX128 it comes with. When you try to use it, it tries to go online immediately. OK if you are at home and have your camera as an accessory to your desktop, pretty useless if you are on vacation, with your laptop, and no internet access. I am seriously disappointed with Vivitar, and the company that bought them. Two emails to their support website have gone unanswered, and two calls to their US phone line have proven useless. You can hardly hear the person at the other end, and eventually you get told they do not have a manual for this camera, yet. That's absurd! I tried Vivitar UK, but have not figured out how to dial UK phone numbers. The camera itself is excellent for the money. The fellow who complained about the batteries is way off base. It takes standard AAA batteries, available anywhere, in an alkaline or ni-mh rechargeable format. This is a big plus when traveling, you don't need to stock some oddball, camera-specific battery. Try downloading the manual for the ViviCam F128 camera, it seems a lot like this XX128.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor experience bought it yesterday for my 9 years old daughter. the pic quality is so so poor that we were at a loss to understand how a 20 mp camera could be so low quality. its cheap because its not worth it and it eats up batteries so fast.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A Fair Camera I needed a cheap digital camera in a hurry to replace my inexpensive Kodak that died after about 15 yrs. I read the reviews which were mixed but decided to take a chance because of the price. Well, you get what you pay for, I guess. The camera has very poor lens quality and resolution. The digital recording, despite the 20 MP claim, is grainy and pixellated. My old Kodak had 7 MP and the shots were clear and sharp. This camera isn't that good. To get a fairly decent picture, I needed to adjust the settings to the exact conditions - the Automatic setting does not do a good job. The video works, but there's no audio despite the claim there is a mic. It is simple to use and has all the basic functions of a digital camera. Transfer to computer is straightforward. It takes 3 AA batteries and these need to be fresh or it powers off. Would I buy again? No. But if you want a cheapy instead of a throwaway, say for a child to learn on, this might work. Here's a photo after adjusted settings taken outdoors.
