1 tbsp Great Value Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 clove Onion medium, finely chopped
3 cloves Garlic minced
1 can Great Value Tomato Paste 156 mL
3.5 cups Great Value Reduced Sodium Vegetable Cocktail
0.5 tsp Great Value Italian Seasoning


454 g Extra lean ground turkey
0.5 cup Great Value Seasoned Bread Crumbs
0.25 cup Great Value Grated Parmesan Cheese
1 Great Value Large Egg well beaten
1 clove Garlic minced
2 tsp Great Value Onion Powder
0.5 tsp Great Value Italian Seasoning
1 container Great Value Whole Grain Spaghetti Pasta 375 g


  1. In a large saucepan, heat the oil over medium.  Add onions and garlic. Sauté 3-4 minutes or until starting to soften.  Add tomato paste and Italian seasoning. Cook 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly. 
  2. Gradually pour in the vegetable cocktail while stirring constantly. Bring to simmer, reduce heat to medium-low and continue simmering, uncovered, while preparing the meatballs.
  3. Combine all meatball ingredients thoroughly. Working with 1 ½ - 2 Tbsp (22 - 30 mL) at a time form the turkey mixture into roughly twenty balls, gently adding them to the pot as they are formed. The sauce should just barely be simmering. Simmer in sauce, loosely covered, for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through. Do not stir for the first 10 minutes as the meatballs may break apart; instead gently swirl the pot to move them around.
  4. While the meatballs are cooking, bring a large pot of water to boil. Cook spaghetti according to package directions.  Drain well and set aside until meatballs are cooked.
  5. Serve meatballs and sauce over prepared pasta. Top with more Parmesan cheese, if desired.

Recipe notes

Tip: After adding the meatballs into the sauce don’t stir for the first 8-10 minutes or until they firm up.
