Ease Of Installation

Used these chains on a family trip to Mammoth, CA. They did great in heavy snow and ice. Easy to put on and even easier to take off. Provide great grip and don't fall off like cables. They are thin enough to meet S clearance requirements. Diffinatley keeping these for future.

I've been a long time advocate of the cable chains. I ended up with these Self-Tightening chains because of reviews I'd see on cable chains for bigger tires. Long story, short, I'm happy I bought these. Took about 10 minutes to put them on the first time. They aren't bad riding in snow, ice or clear roads under 25mph.

Great chains

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have only tried the chains on for fit in dry weather and have yet to use them in snow or ice.

I haven't put the chains to the test yet in snow or ice, but as far as sizing and installation go, 5 stars!  Installation really is easy.  I'm a girl and not mechanically inclined.  I can put these chains on in under 5 minutes. The most important thing, and the part that takes the longest when installing, is to make sure that the chains are UNTANGLED.  Take time to make sure the chains are untangled before installing and you will find installation, once chains are untangled, is a BREEZE.  The 232405 model fits perfectly my Acura 2015 RDX 235/60-18 tires.

Excellent fit for my Acura 2015 RDX

After reading reviews I was concerned about size and quality. These chains arrived quickly and fit my tyres. They seem to be well built and can handle what I need them to. These are my first modern chains and are so much easier than the old chain links that you had to manually tighten. Ya, they take about 5 minutes a tyre to put on but that is still faster than anything else. It is snowy and cold, just accept that you are going to have to get down and put them on. I think they are worth the cost. Hopefully they will last many more adventures.

These chains were undersized for my Highlander's 245/60-18 tires.  The side tightening bands were stretched to the max in order to just barely make the final connections.  It took way too much pulling, muscle strength, and re-positioning of the chains on the tire to make this work.  Although the Walmart description did not explicitly list my tire size (but did list smaller and larger tires), the manufacturer's website and the product packaging did list my tire size for this chain set.  Aside from this tightness issue, the design concept and construction quality seem very good.   I recommend this product in general, but not for my size tires.
