I bought 2 of these bowls because I feed feral cats and I just wanted them to always have water even in the freezing weather we have had. I didn't think about the birds who would also drink from them. They were a good price and they hold a lot of water. Great value.

This bowl has been great!! We live in northern  Michigan (about 50 miles from the Mighty Mac) and feed the feral cats (we have caught & had them fixed) that come around. It is hard for them to find water this time of the year. It works great and has not frozen at all. They come and drink from it multiple times per day. We had a bowl (not this brand) & it was only 25 watts & did not keep the water from freezing . I think the higher watts on this makes the difference.

Really happy its perfect for our 2 dogs. Temps down 4 degrees last night and high today is 10° and  water is fine did not freeze at all...

I bought two heated water bowl for my chickens. Sure is nice not having to break ice up several times a day. I use empty ice cream buckets inside the dog bowl forcquick easy changes/cleaning. Best buy of the year!!

Works great

I purchased this, not for any of my dogs, but for my ducks!  This bowl has a built-in thermostat, and runs only when needed.  It keeps the drinking water for my ducks from freezing.  I have to fill it a few times a day, but that helps me see that my ducks are drinking enough for this time of season.  AND, it's not as heavy as a five-gallon bucket.

This is a great product.  The water has not frozen at all and the dogs seems to drink more water as it make the water room temperature.

This bowl will be used to feed feral cats in our neighborhood. Would love to see a bowl this size circumference and with a more shallow depth (better for cats), otherwise good product.

I am using the dish to feed a family of feral cats. Dry food isn't a problem, but the wet food freezes in the winter. The dish is perfect.

How I'm using it

I bought this when I was in a pinch and couldn't find one at a local Tractor Supply. It seemed well built but it only lasted a year. I noticed it wasn't heating the water and I decided to take it apart to see what was going on. I removed the bottom and found the foil that seals the heating element was falling apart and exposed the element to water, which allowed it to corrode and break. The entire element was ruined. The bottom piece that houses the heater is not sealed and allows water to get in.
