I use one log as a starter and maintainer of regular firewood stacked over it. been doing this for years whrn camping. Really helps in cold and damp weather. overall I recommend highly. no residue that i can detect.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Normally, these fire logs are excellent, I have purchased them many times.  they burn more than 3 hours, and are the best price.  However, I got one case of logs that were defective, they burned out in less than one hour, with high heat, like an inferno, almost dangerous.  Anyhow, got refunded.  I will purchase again, assuming this was just a  fluke.

If You're burning, real dried  logs.They're  great fire starters.

didn't burn for 3 hours.. but was easy to start and burned nicely once we added additional wood to it.. so it was basically an expensive fire starter.. Great for camping.. would be disappointed if i only had this for a flame/heat.

I placed the log into a clay chiminea. I lit the wrapper to ignite the log as the instructions said. The wrapper itself burned AROUND the log and burned itself out without ever igniting the log. I then doused the log with charcoal lighter fluid and tried it light it. The log still didn't ignite. I then crumbled newspaper and threw it into the chiminea and then lit the newspaper. The burning newspaper finally got the log ignited and it started burning. It's so slow burning to last 3 hours like stated that it barely puts out a flame and/or heat. It's more for display than anything else. What a waste or money.
