I had originally seen this product on Amazon at one time and did a lot of research, especially the great reviews and almost bought it but for some reason Amazon stopped handling this company.

When WalMart  offered this on Black Friday at not $50 but over $100 less expensive than I have ever seen it, it was a no brainer and I  have NOT been disappointed a bit. This appliance has been running 24 hours a day sinec i originally plugged it in.  It just keeps on making bullets of fantastic chewable ice.

We used to buy a lot of bagged ICE since our durn Whirlpool Refrigerator's ice-machine went out. Whirlpool's warranty is bad and the ice maker did indeed fail two days after its warranty expired.

We used to buy two 7lb bags of Ice pe day for the household of two kids and 3 adults.  Now, with the Costway, all we added was a huge 10-cup Brita Pro water filter and using that, it is simple enough for an 8-year old child to empty and keep the water resovoir full and the ice basket emptied.  I am positive that the unit makes well over the stated 11 lbs per day, as we easily get almost 3 gallon zip-lock bags per day from the unit.

The unit is quiet, the ice freezes fast (8-9 minutes for each run), and the Brita Pro assures pure and clean water wll be used for all the cubes.

For $50 I think it was a steal, for $150 (normal pricing befroe Black Friday), it is still a great purchase.  I was at first hesitant to buy without an additional warranty, which I did buy but as heavy-duty and well made as this unit is and the simplicity of its design, I am not looking at using the extended warranty any time soon.

This was a gift for my grand daughter, and she loves it. So do her 3 kids.
They were always buying ice, saves her some money.  She had a birthday party for her son and didn't run out of ice.
If you don't have an ice maker, this is the next best options.

Makes ice cubes FAST.

Awesome product!
The icemaker works as described. In fact, in my opinion works better than described our icemaker in our freezer, quit on us and buying. This was more cost efficient than replacing the one in our freezer, and this one puts out way more ice then ours ever did great quality ice, and a fresh clean taste as well!

It makes ice so quickly! It doesn't take up too much room on the counter. Very convenient! Check that the plug is in before first water fill. Mine wasn't. The instructions are a little hard to follow as it seems they were poorly translated. However, it's not rocket science. 
The instructions say that there are two sizes of ice cubes but I can't find where you change that.

This is not my first ice maker. It is definitely the slowest at producing ice. It's cute, but do yourself a favor and pay a little more if you want better ice production. It's not terrible, it's just “meh”… so I guess it's better than nothing. It does not keep up with my older ice maker that I paid $45 more for. I bought this for the color, since it goes better with my kitchen decor and my older ice maker is bright red (hubby ordered the first one he can across). This one is noisier as well.  Thing to note- these cheaper ice makers only make ice. They don't keep it from melting. (Those ice makers are a few hundred dollars.) I don't mind this since the ice melts and the water just gets turned into ice again. This particular one is just slower. There are faster producing ones out there. It does make soft bullet shaped ice that is good for chewing. (PS -don't do that. It's terrible for your teeth. I know from experience. And if you're craving ice, have your iron levels checked. That's a symptom of anemia/iron deficiency.)

Not terrible… ice production speed needs improving

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased portable ice maker in November 2023 online from Walmart , a Christmas gift for my daughter. She decided to use it this spring for the first time. Worked only once and did not have Costway on front of the ice maker machine. Very disappointed

Fake!

It has stopped working. It should have lasted longer than this. I bought it to replace a count top ice maker that had last 2 years. This one CONSTANTLY has to be reset and today, it quit.

Buy a different brand...

DO NOT BUY THIS!! I bought this because I thought it was a good product and Costway was supposed to be a good brand name.  Nope!! I used it for barely 3 weeks and the whole condensor died.  Wouldn't do anything after that.

Run away!

Unit worked well for 9 months and then stopped working. Disgraceful that this company only guarantees their product for 90 days. They are knowingly selling junk. Don't waste your time.

Worked for 9 months

The time that it is suppose to put out the first batch of ice lengthens with every use. I purchased this one for the clean option and there is no difference in the inside at all and I followed the directions. Also, you have to totally unplug it to turn the machine totally off. The machine itself is off but the light continues blinking until you unplug it. And, it will not change from making ice to the cleaning mode like after you are finished making the amount of ice you want and want the last step to clean it. I cannot figure out how to change from small ice to large. it seems to only make large, even though the instructions tell you the need to change from large to small or vice versa depending upon the temperature in the room. I HATE this machine. Thank goodness I purchased the warranty that was optional. I will be contacting them after this and wonder what kind of customer service they give.
