[Employee of walmartcanada] Refurbished, but feels like a new. Happy to buy it.

We purchased a refurbished Samsung Tablet for our daughter for her 10th birthday.  It came in great shape!

Tablet

PROs: Price, looks new, good performance, has new features (compared to my old Galaxy tablet) including usage as a phone

CONs: "Refurbished" seems to mean "intended for the US market but usable in Canada". In other words there were a lot of settings I had to change (some of which were not easy to find). Fortunately I  am comfortable doing this type of job, others might not be. 
1) For starters when you power up the tablet you see a large and flashy T-Mobile logo. This is an app built into the device apparently to handle phone capability (although there is also a Phone app). It can not be uninstalled - even if you never intend to use the tablet as a phone. 
2) Another annoying setting is temperature (set as Fahrenheit not Celsius). Changing this via the Weather app is not sufficient - there is another somewhat hidden setting. 
3) Just about every app installed (and there are many) are set to issue notifications (some text based, some audible). It took a while to identify all the sounds that the tablet produces and disable the notification for the appropriate app. 
4) All of the above were annoying and involved time and effort to fix but there was one item that for several days had me thinking I would have to return the purchase or at least part of it. The package I received included a battery charger of course and it did indeed charge the battery. Each time I connected it to the tablet it would cause the tablet to beep. However the beeping would continue maybe every 30 seconds even though I muted the speaker. Fortunately I still had my old tablet's charger and when I used that there were no beeps. Better still when I plugged it in, a screen notification appeared saying that a "fast charger" was in use. I didn't give up at this point however and scanned the battery settings that were available more closely. Lo and behold there was a "power-saving" setting which limited battery charge to 87%. If this is set and the "slow charger" is used even though the battery is only at the 87% mark it reads 100% and the beeping is suppressed. 
5) Finally I decided to try out the tablet's capability as a phone. I presumed all I needed to do was transfer my existing phone's SIM card to the tablet. But this turned out not to be the case. With the SIM card in, I was initially encouraged to see that the tablet seemed to establish contact with my provider (the word "Bell" appeared in the top left corner of the screen). However a trial call to a contact failed due to something called "call and text on other devices" which was not set. This feature somehow syncs the tablet with a nearby (Samsung) phone. It is not clear whether both the tablet and the phone need a SIM card but they both need this feature set and in my case my phone (a J4+) does not support it. Oh well - I probably wouldn't have used the tablet as a phone anyway!

Pros and (lengthy) Cons

Despite the fact that the package was available three (3) days after the date announced, the real downside is due to the fact that the charger accompanying the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 tablet is either defective or incompatible with the product. When connecting, a yellow triangle indicates a loading fault. While using the charger of another Samsung Galaxy Tab A7, charging is done normally. The same is true when you plug the Galaxy Tab A7 tablet into the Tab A8 charger, the charging fault indicator also appears. The Tab A8 tablet is working normally. It would be appreciated if you could send us a new charger. If necessary, I can return the one that accompanied the package. Thanks.

The product is well received, but defective charger

Was hoping that the tablet would atleast be unlocked but it is locked to at&t.. the tablet is not running smooth and lagging. Not happy.
