I bought this because my taping knife rusted after only a few projects over two years. The Purdy has a comfortable handle and the stainless steel looks and feels solid. The butt end feels solid for pounding in proud nail heads.

Great tool for spackling

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This took just isn't for painting, it can be used for a multitude of other tasks. I was making bread around Christmas and had to use it as a makeshift bench scraper. Worked great actually! But I will actually use it in future home improvement projects.

Great multi use tool

The knives have a great handle and the blades perform well.
I would give it 5 stars if they used an easily removed label on the blade. 
You have to soak the blade in solvent and then scrape the label off. I have never been able to remove the labels without scratching the blades.

Used to be a brilliant product.... Untill the high carbon steel was swapped for stainless... Sure it no longer rusts but it also no longer develops an edge... Anyone who uses filling knives all day long knows the worn ones are the ones you want to pick up.. Ive got a couple over seven years old and used every working day of the week and a lot of weekenders... The 1.5" is so rounded but sharp as can be... Please purdy go back to the high carbon steel... So much more professional you can remove flaked paint paper and old caulking with ease.. The new stainless ones wont take an edge its like sharping butter...

Good for long-term use but not as good as before
