I bought this with the intention of removing hair from my back and shoulders. Definitely seeing results after just 6 weeks! I like what I'm seeing so much I am using it on my backside and another personal area. Highly satisfied with the progress everywhere!

Awesome for male hair removal too!

I've been using it for 4 weeks now and to I can see the difference. My arm and leg hair are totally gone already . Armpits and bikini part is taking a bit time because obviously the hair there a bit thicker but even my armpits are almost clear now . I rarely see a hair or two after a week .. plan on continuing the process for 12 weeks and maintaining it once a month .. worth the money .. doesn't take long . Doesn't hurt . It zaps . Like you touched a slightly hot surface .

Before I tried this IPL device, I was concerned about several things. 1. The pain caused by the zaps. 2. The efficacy of this treatment. 3. Is the aftercare to burdensome? 4. Is it worth the price tag?

I'm pleased to say that it is not painful in most areas, except my sensitive inner thighs, which thankfully is not hairy. I began to see results after 3 weeks, just from the hair growth slowing down, and by the 4th week, most hair follicles have already gone dormant. I have sensitive skin and some of the aftercare for this treatment is staying out of the sun and avoiding chemical exfoliants (like AHA and BHA which were staples in my skin care routine). The only change I made was apply sunscreen to my face more diligently up to 3 days after an IPL treatment and I also had to put a pause on my use of all chemical exfoliants, it was worth it. Lastly, compared to the price of laser hair removal, and the other competing IPL devices, the Braun IPL pro 5 is the sweet spot between efficacy and price, where I feel that it's very effective and not too expensive. It is definitely an investment but a reasonable and worthy one.

I'm very happy about my purchase so far. I use this device once a week, on my legs, the lower half of my face, my underarms, and my bikini area. I have tanned skin and dark hair.

I was skeptical but it's better than I expected.

Bought this 8 weeks ago, and it is changing my life. I'm basically hairless where I want to be and I could not be happier! I have very light skin and very dark hair, a lot of it...and within 3 weeks of use in each area I had almost no hair growing. The bikini line is coarser so it's taken about 4-5 weeks but after the 2nd week there was no after-shaving-burn!!! IYKYK. I have a lot of moles/spots all over my legs too, and it was easy to go around them and not fry them off by accident. I recc starting with the lightest/most gentle setting at first to get used to it and upping it 1 level each time you do it as feels good to you. DO yourself a favor and get some eye protection, too. It's fine without it but t is a bright flash and if you're eyes are sensitive as mine are, you'll be happy to have the glasses. And the microfiber cloth that comes with said glasses is great for cleaning the head of the IPL after each use, too ;)

Finally no bikini burn!

Good machine for hair, i used 4 times only and i can see the results but only you have to be careful on the tattoos

Love this at home IPL treatment machine from Braun.   I bought this about 2 months ago and it's been a game changer.   I can do these treatments in the comfort of my own home and not spend the $$$ for salons.   I love the carrying case too so I can take it with me during my summer travels

I wish I could buy this device earlier…. I have light (beige) color skin and dark hair, so it is the perfect combo for IPL. After only 2 uses, I noticed that the hair stopped to grow back as fast as before. Today I am after my 5th treatment and I barely need to shave! I am very very happy!

Wonderful

I'm a male with light skin and brown, moderate-density hair. I started using the Braun IPL PL5157 about 3 months ago, treating once per week as directed. After 14 treatments, I've seen great results, especially under my arms where there's now just a small 2.5 x 2.5 cm (1 x 1 in) patch of finer, softer hair. I'd love that to be 100% reduction but I'm very happy with it so far.

I've also been using it in other areas with coarser, more persistent hair, and while the reduction hasn't been as extreme, I've still seen noticeable improvement: slower regrowth, softer texture, and shorter hairs. I'm still seeing results improve so I'm continuing weekly.

I'd recommend patience as it's not instant, but if you're consistent and follow the routine, it works. I'm surprised at how much smoother and more manageable the hair is.

I was considering professional underarm laser hair reduction but decided to test run the Braun device, and I'm happy I did. For the lower initial price you trade a slightly higher time commitment but it seems to have been worth it.

A couple of notes:

The treatment isn't usually painful, just a warm flash/snap, and you get used to it. I only ever use the highest setting and once in a while I get a painful flash. If it happens it fades quickly.

You'll need to shave before use, which I hate, but as you progress it's far less often as the hair reduction kicks in. After 12 sessions, shaving once a week is quick and there's very little irritation due to having less hair.

I've had no side effects on the highest setting. No burns, discoloration, or irritation. I use 99% aloe gel right after IPL which helps. I get far more irritation and skin issues from shaving than IPL.

I recommend this for guys looking to manage or reduce body hair without going for waxing or professional laser. It's worth the investment if you want something effective and private you can use at home.

Impressive Hair Reduction After 12 Weeks

I don't think I'm exaggerating when I call this IPL life-changing. While I'm advantaged by having the ideal skin/hair color combination, I had a near immediate reduction in hair growth, saving me hours of time every week. This was a replacement for a much older IPL from a different manufacturer. I figured that the technology must have improved. It has, and I have no regrets about this purchase.

Excellent product, would buy again

I did laser hair removal at a spa and purchased this device just to maintain. It takes multiple attempts to get the flash to happen even when placed properly. The device has barely been used and the flash actually works only 1 out of 5 attempts even when the light says it's properly placed on my skin. It's out of warranty and never worked properly and didn't maintain my hair removal at all. This just wasn't worth the cost for me since it doesn't work properly.

Not worth it, just go to a professional
