Can I use Walmart Canada gift cards for online purchases?

Yes, we do accept Walmart Canada gift cards, both physical and digital, for online purchases. Simply select “Gift Card” as a payment option at checkout and type in the gift card number and PIN. The value of the gift card will be deducted from your purchase.

If you have any questions, please call 1-800-350-6690 for gift card support.

Can I use Visa Debit or MasterCard Debit to pay for my order?

Yes, you can! However, please keep in mind that there are differences with how Visa Debit and MasterCard Debit work compared to Visa Credit and MasterCard Credit. When you place your order, your debit card will get authorized and the issuing bank will immediately debit your bank account. The bank then holds the funds until your order is completed. Walmart will receive these funds after your order has shipped. Occasionally, Walmart will need to perform more than one authorization hold on a card while we wait for an order to be completed. Rest assured that once all items in your order have been shipped, the additional held funds will be returned to your account according to the authorization expiry terms of your bank.

Good to know: For Walmart Grocery PickUp orders, your final charge could be lower than the original authorization. This can happen because we calculate the final cost of items with varying weights (like produce, meats, etc.) when they’re picked in store. The remaining unused portion of the original authorization hold will expire according to the terms of your bank or financial institution.

When will I be charged for my purchase?

Your credit card will be charged once your order ships. When you place an order, we will place an authorized hold on your credit card — meaning we make sure that your credit card has an available balance for your purchase. If the balance is available, we reserve the amount of your purchase on your credit card so that we can be certain that the credit balance is still available when it comes time to make the charge. At that point, we get your order ready, and ship the item.

Good to know: Authorized and held amounts will not be available for other purchases. If an order is cancelled, the authorization hold will expire according to the terms of your bank or financial institution.

Please note, when you place an order using a Walmart Canada gift card, Walmart Rewards, or PayPal account, you will be charged at the time your order is placed.

How do PayPal payments work?
